Well this thread suddenly became unimportant unless we can trade back in the first or trade up from our 3rd pick. God help Andy Reid if Geno Smith turns into anything other than a flop.

Nick Foles
Joe Flacco
Alex Smith
Matt Barkley
Geno Smith
Matt Flynn
Tyler Wilson
Matt Moore
(moot point)
I think Nick Foles offers the highest ceiling of all the QB's on that list. Foles has the potential to be a legit franchise QB. Flacco is a super bowl winner but he is what he is at this point. I don't know that I'd rely on him to win a game even after his great season of 2013. He seems like the best "game manager" QB in the game and not necessarily "Franchise" QB material. Ravens would argue.
All these obscure comparisons people put up between Smith and Cassel are laughable. Alex Smith is NOT Matt Cassel 2.0. Chiefs fans are just so jaded that 50% of them can't see positives in ANY move that is made. Seems like this fan base is split on EVERYTHING this franchise does. I think also think it's HILARIOUS that the anti-A. Smith people out there are freaking out about a 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick as the compensation heading to SF in this trade. Those picks will be worth something in the 800 point ball park. Everything those people LOVE about GENO Smith, they SHOULD love about ALEX Smith. (70% completion rate, west coast QB, mobile, etc) Do you guys SERIOUSLY not see your hypocrisy when you cry about giving up 800 draft points for Alex, but you're banging the table for the Chiefs to spend 3000 points for Geno? There's ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you could convince ANY sane person that Geno Smith is worth almost 4x MORE than what the Chiefs spent for Alex. Please gain some perspective.
I'm starting to think Matt Barkley is the best QB in this draft class. Maybe it's because he hasn't done anything this winter yet, but the more I read about him, the more I think the responsibilities heaped on him at USC prevented him from becoming the big-name super QB he was pegged to be. All the talent is there. He was given 80% of the play-calling responsibilities at the line in a Peyton Manning-style offense implemented by Lane Kiffin. If he's in a Jim Harbaugh offense at say, oh, Stanford... perhaps he's being hyped up like Andrew Luck. Look at what that offense has done for Andrew Luck, Alex Smith, and a 2nd round pick Kaepernick. Matt Barkley COULD be a victim of his own talents. USC could've looked at Barkley and gave him more responsibilities than he SHOULD'VE been given and the result was a mediocre product. However, that experience should allow him to be more NFL ready than perhaps any of the QB's from last year's class.
Geno Smith has been discussed extensively here. The rest is just cannon fodder. They'll all be borderline starters or career backups.
Dont think I could of said it any better Texas. He isnt Cassell, and have some forget Matt was the backup first. Then after playing for the half or quarter of a season. he went to the chiefs. Smith has been the starter, and has played exceptional for the past two seasons 13-3, one year, then 6-2 the next. To see thats it's not a fluke. He's literally seen every offense imaginable, and had to run it at some point in his career. Cant say the same for Cassell. Overall everyone on that list who had a bad record when scoring 24 pts.
What seems to be the theme there. That when you score that much, it makes it hard for your team to win. Even with a HOF QB. a few more wins here and there ok. But overall, all of them under the .300 mark overall.
So pick out the semantics if you want, but I'll take a W and 100passing yards if we get the win. I mean isnt that what matters. OR maybe it's not about the wins, but more about stats.
I will say the only think i noticed about the chief zone is that I thought some others were crazy. But i mean we just got Reid, NO SB yet. And i mean who's to say if he'll even pan out. I'm just saying it's an upgrade from the past few years.
And everyone on this Geno Smith thing needs to look at whats best for the organization. If we chose him first. ARe we doing so becasue we feel we have the next luck or rg 3, or wilson, etc. Or ar we talking bout it cuz we just going by what we think and personal feelings only.
I dont know, but either way. I'm excited as all hell for the offseason to begin.
