Who's going to be the starter?

Place some of your arrowcash on this wager in the fantasy sportsbook. I'm betting on Croyle, but hoping for Huard.
I just think it would be a nightmare if we started with Croyle, then had to replace him with Huard. If Huard struggled, then we would have to go back to Croyle.
Where if we just start with Huard, it would be easier to move to Croyle if Huard struggled since Croyle is our "QB of the future". Also, Huard played pretty well last year.
I do agree with you. Damon did a great job last year when he stepped in when Trent got hurt. I think we should give Damon his shot to start for us. If he struggles throw the young gun in. What would it hurt to give Damon his chance? No matter what, Tony will make either of the QB's look good no matter who's slinging the pigskin at him.
:yahoo:
I'm in the same boat. If we let the kid start, there is a good chance that his confidence could get crushed. If we start Huard and he struggles, then Croyle may feel better about struggling, himself.

My thoughts are here. Let me just say that I disagree that we should play it safe. We've been doing that for how long? How many times has that worked out for us?
Under the circumstances, I can't see it as being safe, but as being smart. If we destroy Croyles confidence, what do we do about the future?
True, hate to waste Croyle now to jeopardize the future. That's why I think Damon would be better. He proved last year he could when and was once behind Peyton when Trent took back over. Let Damon start this year and play Brodie from time to time to get him some confidence then set him loose next year.
Or we end up starting Huard again because he started this year. We end up trading Croyle because we haven't given him a chance to prove himself starting, he ends up being a superstar somewhere else, and we end up saying, "Man, I wish we would have taken a chance on him."
Look at how David Carr performed. It took him several years to get his act together. Then look at Phillip Rivers.
Alot of guys get the feeling that they can't do it, if they play poorly, when the start for the first time.
As far as what kind of confidence we are giving...
It's not that we don't trust him to start, but that Huard has earned it. Or, at least, that's what we let him believe. We owe it to Damon to afford him that opportunity. That and we want him to be "seasoned". Those goofy words tend to work, when the coach uses them to the young players.
If Trent Green hadn't of gotten injured, we wouldn't have been forced to give Huard a chance. Everyone was scared to death when we had to. Maybe we should let them compete for it, and just see how it turns out.
No matter who gets it, I think it's a bad idea to voluntarily switch QB's mid-season, especially with so many younger players. Whoever we start, I vote to stick with them.
If we start Huard, then have to bring in Croyle. We can let Croyle play the season out. If we start Croyle, then Bring in Huard, only to bring Croyle back. Then things turn into a big mess IMO.
We wil have a better idea after pre-season game 2. If Brodie is struggling at that point Damon will start.
The brass want Brodie to be the man, but we can't afford a slow start with our schedule.
From what I have heard from people at River Falls the last problem Croyle will have is a lack of confidence. Additionally, they say the difference between the two quarterbackks is apparent and the starting position has already been won by Brodie.
I say this because we have to have a good start. If we start off bad and the season is a wash he will be brought in for experience.
Don't get me wrong I want Brodie to be successful & if he is the guy who deserves to start than so be it. It would be nice to actually have a QB that grew up a Chief!! Anyone remember the last time we had someone who we didn't import from elsewhere??
Exactly. Everyone we import has been proven in one way or another. QB is one of the hardest positions to take a chance on due to it being such a vital role. I really think it stems from wanting to play it safe.
Carl wants people in the stands. That's understandable. It's a gamble, though. You don't always get what you want by playing conservative. Sometimes, in order to win some, you've got to go with your gut. Do you risk losing? Yes. But guess what. You also risk winning, too. We've been conservative for so long. It's just time to take a chance. What have we got to lose? Not going to the Superbowl......again?
You men can be so hard headed! :p
Where's your sense of adventure?
If Huard starts, I'll be a little disappointed. I won't hate it though. I know that he's proven himself. I know that he can be relied upon. I know he has more experience. I'm just so excited about rebuilding (I know, I'm weird).
I say you give it to who earns it starting this preseason. Whoever has the better camp and preseason should be the starter. I would like Brodie to win that competition and prove that he is the QB of the future. Split the reps and it should work itself out.
i`ve seen brodie throw, and he`s got a cannon for a arm. let him start. if he is the future, the fiture cant learn from the bench.
I feel if the competition is close between Croyle and Huard, then let Croyle start and get the experience. I think the offense is going to struggle this season. With the L.J. holdout (no telling how long that'll be) and Priest is not an every down back any longer, neither is Bennett. The O-line is suspect at the tackle position and Bowe won't effectively contribute until mid-season at the earliest and we know about the concrete hands of Parker. (Did I say that?) So, let's find out what he's made of.
I think we should give Croyle a shot. He handled himself pretty well at Alabama. Hopefully we have a decent running game going into the season to take pressure off of him.
Huard all the way baby.
Huard should have finished last season out or at least the second half of the Colts playoff game last year or least ye remember Gannon vs Grrrbec screwup... Oops..
He has proven himself in real games-Don't you know nobody really cares about pre-season or really tries except those who need to make the team.(Your S.F. right?) Think Joe-bye See Steve play. Think Trent-bye
See Huard play.
I dont care who starts so long as they are hoisting up the Lombardi trophy come January.
Huard had his flaws too. I hope they both battle it out hard. I want the best option in there. If it is Croyle, so be it. If it is Huard, I can live with it.
Likin' that new Boomer sig.
I think the deal with Croyle is that he spent last year as a number three quarterback, for the most part, and I feel he needs a little bit of time as the primary back-up. Not that I would be upset if he were to win the job, just that I think he needs a little more work.
The fact that the Chiefs never seem to develope our own young quarterbacks plays directly into my thoughts of taking it slow and bringing him along right, instead of rushing him in. :bullseye:
Nice to have the extra voices sounding off, in this discussion, too.
