If Cable turns out to be John Madden and Russell turns out to be a legit QB, they could make a playoff run. I don't think either of those will happen, but the Raiders 2009 offseason hasn't been nearly as bad as people think. They clearly made the right choice in not taking Crabtree, their FA haul wasn't bad, and this trade makes sense.
If they were any other team but Oakland and any other owner but Al Davis, people would be hailing them as geniuses right now.
