I just heard that Hunt has apparently decided to hire the head coach himself because it opens up options to perhaps hire some of the more high-profile head coaching candidates out there. This makes more sense, I think.
It's pretty well-known that some of the "high-profile" head coaches who have been sitting on the sidelines the last few years have decided not to accept positions as a head coach because they are not allowed to make personnel decisions. With an open line from the head coach to the owner, it now opens the door for the Bill Cowhers and Jon Grudens of the world.
That makes me feel a little better.
