The Pats first Super Bowl team was made up of 11 free agents starters. They built the team in the 2000 offseason using cheap free agents. They kept the team on top with good drafts, select FAs, and savvy trades.
This, by the way, is exactly what I expect Pioli to do. A massive FA binge this offseason, and good drafts and selected FAs to keep us on top.
We're thankfully going to abandon the asinine strategy of trying to fill our teams needs with a bunch of low draft picks like was the 2007-2008 plan.
Yep... I agree. When the Pats won their first SB with 11 FA starters, that was the last of any "total overhaul", if you can even say that.
The teams that start over or have a low score in talent evaluations and/or have poor coaches stay at the bottom rung. Even if you are "average" in all three aspects, you will be better than 2-14!! LMAO!
if you check our current roster you'll find 53 new players aquired since 2006, only 12 have been around longer, including injured reserve. that's not a rebuilding, it's a razing .
