    Default 2008 vs. 2009

    2008
    Broncos W 33–19
    Chargers L 19-20
    Broncos L 17-24
    Chargers L 21–22

    2009
    Chargers L 7-37
    Chargers L 14-43
    Broncos L 13-44
    Broncos TBD Jan. 3rd

just something to think about...we were more competitive with Gailey's "gimmick" offense last year than the almighty Todd's offense. This guy sucks.
I know people are going to say that I'm not a "true" fan for saying this but I'm running out of patience for him...I see NO progress on offense, none.

I think Hali is the lone bright spot on defense. Flowers has had his moments too but has also given up his share of big plays this year. The players have no respect for Haley (the Wade vs Haley shouting match on the sidelines Sunday) and I don't blame them..

Unbelievable. I hated Herm, but I firmly believe we would be 3-9 with Herm at the helm right now, and probably would have a more entertaining offense because we'd still have Gailey. I'll cheer for these guys week in and week out regardless of who is pacing the sidelines, but with every passing week I'm finding less and less bright spots to look forward to...

In these days of the NFL, it doesn't take years and years and years for teams to turn around. I'll give Haley another off-season to right the ship, and see what next season brings. But if things don't improve drastically in the coming weeks, Haley has got to be heading into 2010 in the hot seat.
I have to agree with you, we have 1 more win this season, but we have had many many many more terrible losses this season. There have been games this year that this team did not show up for.

This has not been a year of progress, the same mediocrity at best. Even the games we won we should not have won, and the Pittsburgh win, well the Faders beat Pittsburgh too, that sort of puts a little damper on that win now doesn't it?

Are you man enough? Eric Berry? Apparently Not!

To me that can not be ignored. This is not haleys team, its the team he took over. I think that we should give him this offseason to get some more players that he helps to chose to judge. Has he been great no but its not like this team was no going anywere this season no matter who was coaching. Next year if this team still looks like this I will be right with everyone calling haley out. But i am willing to give him this season as a free learn on the job type deal. Maybe thats just me.
Have you looked at this team? Not many hold-overs... that's a excuse.

Fact is that the Chiefs didn't, PERIOD. Right now they have won win more than last year and regardless of how you look at it, its an improvement. There's still a couple games left and win a couple of them is a good possibility.

Haley "took over" a horrible team. He didn't have enough time to rebuild this team in 1 off-season. After 2 more seasons, if the Chiefs are still only winning 2 or 3 games a season, then we will all know if Haley isn't the right Head Coach for the Chiefs.
    Offense

    Season - OYPG - PPG - RYG - PYG

    2008 - 308.7 (24th) - 18.2 (26th) - 113.1 (16th) - 195.6 (20th)

    2009 - 265.6 (31st) - 16.3 (28th) - 98 (24th) - 167.6 (29th)

    Defense

    Season - DYPG - PPG - RYG - PYG

    2008 - 393.2 (31st) - 27.5 (29th) - 158.9 (30th) - 243.2 (28th)

    2009 - 394.6 (31st) - 27.2 (30th) - 143.8 (27th) - 250.8 (28th)

(OYPG = Offensive Yards per Game - PPG = Points Per Game - RYG = Rushing Yards per Game - PYG = Passing Yards per Game)

For all of the numbers of 2009 I have used the color blue to symbolize improvement, the color red for regression and plain black for "no change".

This team is worse in six of eight major offensive/defensive catergories, than it was last season.

As horrible as this team was last season, who could have possibly imagined that it could be worse? There was, seemingly, nowhere to go but up.

And here is one more major statistic...

    Average Point Differential

    2008 - (-9.3)

    2009 - (-10.8)

What that is, is the total number of points scored minus the total numer of points allowed, then dived by the number of games played.

This gives you the average difference of points in a game.

A negative number means that you averaged fewer points than you allowed your opponents. And the higher that negative number, the worse your average games score was.

Haley "took over a horrible team" but has made them an even worse team in most offensive and defensive statistics.

I think anything to show some or any improvement is good thing right now and 3 is more then 2 thats just how i look at it. Babysteps are still steps. That being said this team does have to start to play better they have not played there best the last 2 weeks and that needs to be corrected.
Rather you are 2-14 or 7-9, as long as you are as bad at offense and defense as we are/have been, you are still just a terrible football team.

Managing to get lucky a little more often really doesn't mean a damn thing, except that you will draft a bit lower.

24 active players are holdovers. Thats a pretty big number. Most the IR players were hold overs so that number would be more if they had not gotten hurt. This is NOT haleys team with His players. Its a few vermile a good number of herm some haley and some guys to fill in when guys got hurt. That is this team right now.

I know it isnt as good as it could be. IMO we shout/could be 5-7 right now but its only the first year of the haley/pioli era.
