It's likely to be a New England reunion: Now that Charlie Weis has agreed to work in Kansas City, Romeo Crennel will not be far behind.

    KAN: Crennel Joins Team
by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, January 13, 2010 at 8:54am ET

    Romeo Crennel Profile

The Kansas City Chiefs have reached a contract agreement with veteran coach Romeo Crennel to take over the defensive coordinator position, Scout.com has confirmed.

Crennel will be replacing Clancy Pendergast. It's not known whether Pendergast has been reassigned within the coaching staff or has been fired.

Crennel also received interest from the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins, a source said. However, it's not known which positions those teams were targeting Crennel for.

Crennel, who was last head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 2005-2008, will continue to run a 3-4 defensive scheme with the Chiefs.

    Crennel

As expected, the Kansas City Chiefs have officially hired Romeo Crennel to be their defensive coordinator, a source close to situation tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Crennel is reunited with offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, who was hired recently by Kansas City following his ouster as Notre Dame coach. Crennel and Weis worked in the same capacities under coach Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots.
Crennel will not start work for a couple of weeks because of a prior commitment -- he'll be the head coach of the East Team in the East-West college football all-star game on Jan. 23 in Orlando, Fla.
