    Default 2 of the same?

So while I like this guy, does it seem to anyone else like McCluster is a carbon copy of Jamaal Charles? They look like the same guy out there. Don't get me wrong, I like how the kid runs, don't think he can carry the load because of his size, but why did we draft this type of player with our 2nd? Depth? Returns? I'm definetely not sure of this pick after seeing them both in action on the same field. Along the same line kind of, Thomas Jones may be in some trouble if the O line is not better. Hopefully it was just some jitters, getting comfortable with each other etc. Three more games to gel I guess.

Besides, McCluster is our starting slot receiver. It just so happens that we can use him at RB at times. He's kind of like Percy Harvin in that regard, another player I love. McCluster looks great, and it sure beats one of the alternatives, which is if we had drafted a bust in that spot instead.
Can't argue with either of the last two posts. I'm just wondering if you draft a "mini Jamaal" with a 2nd round pick just as an injury precaution. Also, I know he will line up in the slot a bunch but here I am again questioning the O line. Defenses will pick up on the 3 yd dumps to McCluster very quickly when there is no time to go deep.

The O-line pass protection is a big concern for me, but it is the first preseason game. I am still not sure about the QB position. We had two playes, back to back, that had a rookie free agent WR, clearly beating the defender, these where planned plays, read Coaches comments, QB could not put the ball in his hands. Both playes would have been TD's. That rookie free agent, may very well make the team.

I recall both playes! I'm just not sure how many times we can say "it's only preseason" or "it's only the first couple of games" ya know. I'm holdin out faith that things will come together but my newly found optimism is failing me fast!

McCluster goes down like my five years when we play tackle football. I would just soon only see him as a receiver. Our offensive line was horrific with Jones in there. With McCluster hitting a wall and falling down, I am find just using actual running backs.

We should be lining McCluster up in the slot full-time. After he's learned to be a good WR, then we can start worrying about gadgeting him or playing him at RB. Everyone who says that he's a clone of Charles is basically right. Having two scatbacks in the backfield won't confuse anyone, any more than having two burner WRs lining up confuses defenses.

I tend to agree. Nice option to have, but rather meaningless as long as Jones and Charles are healthy.

Yeah, but there'd be a threat of going to either sideline, which geometrically dictates that it's tougher to defend.

McCluster is not the same player as charles at all, by the way. Why? because they're both fast? they're both quick and agile? They both can catch passes out of the backfield, turn the corner and make guys miss?

We have a solid, between the tackles runner in Jones. We need more playmakers.

I agree, but I think Mccluster is a beast, but I would have rather had a Brandon Jacobs type beast to get the 3rd and short type yards.

Isnt that why we have Thomas Jones?
The only reason a beer sweats around Canada is because he's decided it will be the next beer he drinks.
