CHIEFS ADD WR WILLIAM BUCHANON TO PRACTICE SQUAD

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has added WR William Buchanon to its practice squad. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.
Buchanon (6-3, 191) attended training camp with Oakland from 2006-07 and also spent time in camp with the N.Y. Giants this year. He spent time on the Raiders practice squad a year ago before being promoted to the 53-man roster on December 19th. He played in two games for Oakland in 2006, catching one pass for nine yards.
The Oceanside, California native played cornerback and wide receiver at USC. Buchanon earned All-America honors as a senior at Oceanside High School when he caught 30 passes for 553 yards (23.0 avg.) with five TDs. Buchanon’s father, Willie played 11 years in the NFL for Green Bay and San Diego.

Is this because of the injury to Kennison?

No one was cut for Buchanon...there was an open spot on the practice squad (8 are allowed, 7 were signed before today)...the thought last week was Medlock would likely be signed to practice squad, but apparently the Chiefs decided to move on?!

The 49ers own my heart, but the Chiefs will always hold a better than neutral spot for giving my favorite player a place to leave with grace...

With Buchanon's experience it probably has more to do with the kick coverage last week. Guessing they're fanning a flame under a couple a$$e$ to improve kick coverage.

I'm with you on this one what were they thinking letting him go?

He performed better than anyone I saw in the pre season.

    Well maybe Pollard and Paige.

They will be stars in this league.

    Buchanon likely wouldn't be a kick returner...more a gunner/coverage guy.

Ummm, didn't we need some gunner / coverage guys in Chicago?
You can only have one favorite team. There are no "second favorites".

Exactly...my point was directed at the point that Phinissee "is/was" the answer. Although I agree he has talent, his ability was more as a returner than a gunner/coverage guy.

Oh and by the way, Buchanon wasn't on the SF roster last year, but rather the Oakland practice squad.
