Excellent article in all aspects!! I was one of the few who wanted & predicted Pioli would indeed draft Berry. Heck, trying to think like a GM under the circumstances Pioli inherited when becoming the Chiefs GM...picking Berry made the most logical & feasible sense in all aspects of the game, including from a profit point of view with marketing. It's no coincidence that the Chiefs pro-shops are stocked full of Berry merchandise, and have been since pre-season began. Berry filled many holes for the Chiefs...a positional need, a playmaker need, and a fan draw with ticket sales & merchandising profit need. All of which are indeed the job of a GM.
I agree this is likely the best draft in Chiefs history for talent & skill...rookies making an immediate positive difference their first year for the Chiefs related to winning & from a profitable aspect. Each of them should only get better with each season, and hopefully Pioli will retain them, rather than make the fatal errors CP did with trading such skill & talent desperately needed for a TEAM to win consistently.
That said, there is ONE Chiefs rookie class of which I believe has stood the test of time as being the best overall historically, respectively making the class of 2010 second best at this first year point. That historical class would be the draft class of 1963...which included Bobby Bell, Buck Buchanan, Ed Budde, Dave Hill, and Jerrel Wilson...all of whom are Chiefs Hall of Famer's...Bobby & Buck also NFL HOFers.
