Default Chiefs move Lilja from RG to LG

by Bob Gretz - Lilja moves from RG to LG for first practice
The No. 1 offensive line in the opening practice featured Branden Albert at LT. Last year’s RG, Ryan Lilja, moved to LG. Darryl Harris was at center, Jon Asamoah at RG and Bobby Greenwood at RT. Second-round pick Rodney Hudson was the second-team center. Chiefs RapidReports
I don't know if this a permanent move but I guess harris and Hudson meed the practice at center, and Asamoah needs to get in his reps.

Lilja did play left guard while in Indy so it wouldn't be a terrible move, he was decent in his time there. Though with the recent moves on the line it looks like an alright move isn't going to cut it this year.

I think we'll see a lot of changes over the next month.

I hope you are right, this is going to be a long year for the OL if we do not get some help.

Why is that? We had the #1 rushing team last year and Cassel wasn't overly sacked.

I don't understand everyone panicking about offensive line.

Asamoah is ready to step in, and it's being said that he might already be the best lineman on the team.

Hudson is going to be a beast, and Weigmann is back.

The only thing we lost was Brian Waters, and frankly I'm much happier with Asamoah in the starting lineup than Waters.

Now all they have to do is stay healthy.

Which is a concern being that there was no offseason. Players arent going to be in as good of shape since they didnt have the luxury of the trainers, physical therapists, team work outs, etc.

This year we will probably have a lot more minor injuries throughout the league.

I'd imagine that the panick about the o-line might be centered around the terrible pass-protection and the fact that only Charles can perform running the ball.

If it were not for Charles, and HBs do get injured a lot in The NFL, then what have we got?

If we are not the #1 rushing team in The NFL, then why would teams not just come and get Cassel as The Raiders and Ravens did?

Our only strength on that O-line last season was running to the left. (Charles)

Now, with Waters removed, are we weaker in that aspect?

To not be concerned about rather our o-line did well, or if Charles just made it seem so would be rather presumtuous.

They did get exposed ruthlessly to end last season. And have, since, lost the most reliable member.

I'd say any concern about the unit is plenty justified.

If you watched the offensive line instead if looking at their stats you would see cassel was constantly pressured and quickly, he threw balls away more than any other qb.

You presented the fact that hide the weakness. Charles and cassel hide the pathetic play of the oline.

Jones and Johnson both failed behind this line. Fact of the matter is charless was the running game. Not the oline.

Look at the stats against the raiders and ravens and tell me you are comfortable with this line.
