"Geez, talk about keeping your name in the headlines.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have made three franchise-altering moves today.
First, they fired head coach Jack Del Rio. He had been with the team since 2003 and has the distinction of being the only person to coach a team for nine years without a division title. (Peyton Manning and the Colts didn't help that.) He had just two playoff appearances in nine years so this isn't a big surprise.
Second, they extended the contract of GM Gene Smith so it sounds like A.) this isn't a total house cleaning and B.) Smith will be around to assist in the search for a new head coach.
Third, ESPN reports the Jaguars are being sold. Reportedly they're being sold to Shahid Khan, the guy who tried the buy the Rams last year. They're expected to remain in Jacksonville.
Can you imagine, in one day, Todd Haley getting fired, Scott Pioli getting extended and Clark Hunt selling the team?"
