Default Chiefs QB in suit for lost millions with Chicago Lawyers

It just goes to show you you need to check out your lawyer before you hire him. Some might not have your best interests at heart...

Without any more details what I see is a rich person crying that their investment didn't work out. Welcome to the middle class buddy, you're getting screwed like the rest of us.

That's not entirely accurate. They aren't just suing because their investments lost money. They wouldn't have a claim on that basis. They are suing because they were (allegedly) lied to about tax breaks they were told they would qualify for and didn't get. If the law firm knowingly lied to them then they are entitled to get their investment back plus the fees they paid for the advice. It's called "fraud."

On the other hand, I would have been suspicious in the first place about "set[ting] up partnerships that, in turn, would invest in producers and sellers of gas generated at landfills." That sounds like it has "scam" written all over it to me.

This space is reserved for something that has nothing whatsoever to do with MatthewsChiefs. (Whoever THAT is!)

It's mainly goes to my belief that way too many lawsuits are filed these days. I stubbed my toe therefore you get sued because it was on your land. Yes some of them have merit but too often people just want a payday.

As you said it sounds like it has "scam" written all over it to me. Wouldn't you think you'd talk to several tax guys, an attorney and several other people BEFORE you got into this?
