    Default Free Agents?

I see a lot of these high profile people being released (Manning, Dallas Clark, Wayne, Brandon Jacobs, Nicks among others [sidenote also shopping Freeney]) and my thought is what is the realistic possibility of acquiring any of those guys and it being a legitimate addition?

With our cap who would be smart to go after? You think Manning and Wayne come as a combo? Do we make an aggressive bid for Nicks? Would a headache (usually) like Jacobs be worth a 3 year risk (it like Jones was)?

What do you guys think realistically could be possibilities? Eager for the chiefs to start making moves.

You mean an upgrade over Gregg... who won't be here next year?

Soliai... Pioli keeps saving money... FOR WHAT??? Address a need! This guy is pissing me off.

One only needs to look at Denver and see how you're suppose to build a great defense. You don't do it by cutting corners at every possible position. Every now and then, you've gotta open the wallet and pay a guy... ESPECIALLY if you're not going to address the position in the draft!

Soliai isn't even a great fit in Denver's 4-3... but they're probably going to get him anyway. It's sickening. Pioli does nothing as a division rival gets better by taking the players we need.

Pioli is a pu$$y... too afraid to make a move to improve the team in fear of making the wrong move. What's the point in saving cap space if you're not going to use it? Maybe it goes all the way up to Hunt who has established an even lower salary cap for Pioli to work with because he doesn't want to spend money.

Either way, this front office needs to be run out if they don't start doing something to improve the team dramatically. There's no reason why a team like KC who SHOULD be gearing up for a deep playoff run would be sitting on all this cap space instead of improving the team.

If it takes overpaying on Soliai, then so be it... you've saved everywhere else on other positions like at CB so that you could be in position to overpay if need be.... IT'S TIME TO FIX THE NT POSITION!

Looks like a steep fall off after Soliai(FA). So in the draft who do you like Poe, Brockers, Cox, Worthy, Still?

It should be Soliai. The players go where the money is. Pay him what it takes to bring him to KC. PERIOD. He's 26. The investment would represent the lowest possible risk. Yes, it's a big contract. BUT he's a proven player playing a position of need on your team. You COULD draft Poe, but it's going to take a few years for him to develop into the player you want him to be. The Chiefs are ready to win now and NEED a player like Soliai in his prime, ready to contribute full-time on a playoff team.

IMO, it's Soliai... THEN if you have money left over, you go get the best value for the dollars remaining.

It's really cool to watch all the other teams buying superstars. Wonder what that feels like???

We have a better team than Tampa and look what they did to improve their team.

    This truly is pathetic.

I too want to see us make some MAJOR moves. We've got the cash and we're awful damned close to being a SERIOUS contender. We can't do it all at once, but Pioli/Hunt need to show they intend to win the weak AFC West and a playoff game or two this year.

But I don't think it is time to start lopping off heads just yet.

Soliai is back to the Dolphins per initial reports. Nothing final though.

Grubbs and Winston are the only players left who could salvage this free agent period.

The only way I could see this hold that we're seeing by the Chiefs making sense is if they know something about Manning that nobody else knows. Otherwise, once again, the Chiefs are settling for mediocre hole-fillers.

Well, of course he is headed back to Miami. Thats our luck. I guess we need to just concentrate on the draft. Free agency is always a chore for the Pioli camp.

2 years $12MM for Soliai... you're telling me we couldn't do better than that for a guy coming into his prime at a position of need??

    Completely disgusted.
