Default If Manning Lands __________ would you?

Just thought of a couple scenarios that see's Manning land elsewhere than KC and thought what if? would you consider?

    Scenario 1:
If Manning lands in Denver, there is a lot of chatter about Tebow being traded to Jacksonville because the owner seems to be in love with the marketing aspect of bringing him home...

If this happens there is talk they would be willing to look to trade Gabbart. Would you be willing to make a trade to bring in Blaine Gabbart to set for a year or two and compete with Stanzi to start in a few years?

    My answer would be: YES
You would have to think we could land him for a 2nd or a 3rd (If Cassel was worth a 2nd, and Brandon Marshall is worth 2 3rd's, Gabbart should be worth 1 3rd if you ask me, just based on his performance ) I think (with time to sit a learn) he could blossom into a reliable starter in the League. I just think he got tosses in with the sharks on a bad team last year.

    Scenario 2:
If Manning Lands in Tennessee this means Matt Hasselbeck would be out. I know they have Locker, and would be interested in a trade to bring him in, but it sounds like if they Bring in Manning, Locker is staying to succeed him.

If this Happens, would you be interested in taking a shot on bringing in Matt Hasselbeck?

    My Answer would be: Yes
I was torn at first on this idea because Hasselbeck is fairly old, but then I thought of the idea, that He is a better option that any other FA QB right now (even Orton) and has a winning attitude. I think he would be great competition to bring in for Cassel and push him. He might wind up as our starter for 2 seasons and then we hand off to Stanzi, or if he doesn't beat out Cassel, he would be a more than reliable and experienced backup in case we need him.

    Scenario 3:
If Manning lands in Arizona, Kolb is all but done. I don't see them being able to trade him with his contract, so I think they cut him.

Would you be interested in taking a shot on bringing in Kevin Kolb as a free agent?

    My answer would be:
    No
I was high on Kolb last off season, but I think he has shown he doesn't have what it takes to be a dominant starter in this league. I would not want to bring him in unless is was for a back up role, and even then, I don't think I would want the distraction of a QB carousel with someone who really isn't better than Cassel the first time he has a bad game.

    And Finally...

    Scenario 4:

The Surprise team! If Houston comes into play and lands Manning, which I think they are the mystery team, this now free's up Matt Schaub.

Would you be willing to sign Schaub to compete and start over Cassel?

    My answer would be: YES
I consider Schaub to be the 2nd tier of QB's behind the "Elite" category, and I place Cassel in the 3rd tier. I think Schaub would be and immediate improvement over Cassel, and could take us to the next level of playoff contention. He is 1 year older than Cassel (30) so his window is about the same. But I think we could get 4-6 productive seasons out of him, and have time to look into a successor when the opportunity presents itself, rather than worrying "right now"

Alright, what is everyone else's opinion of these possible scenarios?

Your Man's in Dallas so, uh, what does that mean, My Man?

Out of the possible scenarios listed Blaine Gabbert would be my favorite. All scenarios would be spot on in my opinion though, nice thread.

I left a comment on a Donk's board stating that I hoped they sign him so that we can watch their players pick him up off the ground everytime Hali nails him. I do think we'll be fine if we improve our O-line and get a NT. I really need to go back to their board and check out their responses. Option 2 would be fine if price is reasonable. Option 4 will probably not happen but he would look great in a Chief's uniform.

The talent that herm drafted makes us competitive, all we need is a quarterback.

Manning is argued as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. But i see what you did there
Heres the thing. We never saw Cassel when Haley was not the Head coach. That can't be ignored. With Haley as the Head coach Cassel had to please to many masters. He had the Oc and Haley who seemed to want to run things differently then what the Oc did. Things are going to be different now. Romeo will not have his hands in the offense nearly as much as Haley did. Maybe just maybe that will allow Cassel to be better. It is a maybe but it's possible. I see losing Orton and Carr as the same a loss but not a HUGE loss that they can't recover from.

As for the topic If he goes to Tennessee I have a different option. Not sure how likely it is but I call the Titans about trying to work something out for Jake Locker. I don't think Locker will be to happy to sit on the bench the next couple of years and he's a lot younger then Hasselback. I doubt the Titans would be willing to do that but that would be something I would like to see happen if he lands in Tennessee.

Well said in regards to Matt I can't wait until the season starts, I believe you will be correct and we'll have to see what he can do with some better continuity. As for losing Orton and Carr I agree they are not non-recoverable losses although Orton did quite well with us. But who's to say the next back-up or challenge at starter can't do the same. Brandon Carr could have continued to make a great Brandon duo but it sounds like he likes Dallas too, I guess we'll see.

As for Locker, I also find that unlikely but it would be a sweet thought, yeah. ah the intrigue of this part of the season and it's newness. I still can't wait for that opening kick-off though! I love football!

I mentioned the Locker thing in that Scenario, and I would much rather that happen as well, but I've heard reports that if Manning were to land their that the plan is to have Locker Succeed him and Hasslebeck would be the odd man out.

i also agree with you on the whole "we haven't seen Cassel without Haley hovering over his shoulder theory"

I think we may see a much different Cassel

I think this is the most important year for Cassel. If he shows he can do well, he will be considered a good QB. If he cannot take us to the playoffs this year, then all the naysayers were correct and he doesnt have what it takes. Either we will be giving Cassel a contract extension next year this time, or we will be saying thanks, but we are drafting XX from XX (which unfortunaltely probably means having to trade down in the draft).

Scott....Pioli's....contract? What in the h3ll are you smoking? Pioli has a job as GM and that job is his until Hunt decides he no longer wants Pioli, Pioli takes another job or steps down.

Now that Manning has landed in Denver.....

They are looking to trade Tebow as expected.

Signs have shown that Jacksonville could be the landing spot, and if it is, I would love the idea of making a trade for Blaine Gabbart as mentioned in this start of this thread.

    Any thoughts?
What would you be willing to give up?
Would you keep 4 QB's on the roster (3 active, 1 Practice squad?) or release or trade one?

Why do you have a screen name that emulates an NFC backup qb? Are you on the right board?

He chose that name in fit of delirious euphoria when he joined the forum right after we beat the Packers. Obviously he wasn't thinking ahead.
