don't laff to hard. someday you might. with advances in technology (this is a recording) you may have your own flying car. the concept has been around for years but I found a major effort thru competetion is moving it closer to reality. take a look see. the one above is on display at the NY car show

I think this is a bit more practical

on a more serious note the military is very interested in it by converting humvee's.

Interesting, But I would hold out for a George Jettison version. I want to take off and land at my destination with no need of a runway.
Awesome! I have been following the progress of the Terrafugia Transition for about 2 years now and they are finally ready to start marketing it. It costs about $279,000 dollars so I will have to win the lottery or make a fortune playing Texas hold-em before I can get one, but that's not unreasonable for a private aircraft or an expensive sports car.
It cruises at 107 MPH and gets about 21 MPG in the air on premium unleaded fuel, so it wouldn't be any more expensive to fly than it would be to drive a large pickup truck or SUV. The range of 489 miles is a little limited, but you could fly from Kansas City to Chicago (about 403 miles) in less than four hours!
That is the first I have seen of the PAL-V. It looks like it is only a 1 seater (the Transition is a two passenger plane) and I think a helicopter would be a lot harder to learn how to fly. If I remember right, the Transition would only require 10 hours of flight training for certification.
I want one!
