    More Newsfrom today's Chiefs practice

Ricky Stanzi had a big day in practice Tuesday as he attempted to narrow the gap with Brady Quinn in their battle to be the top reserve behind starting quarterback Matt Cassel.
Quinn and Stanzi have been alternating in practice as the No. 2 quarterback. Stanzi took his turn Tuesday, throwing several nice passes in a seven-on-seven drill. He later finished a full-squad two-minute drill with a touchdown pass to Jamar Newsome.
“It’s good to get out there and go through that situation,” Stanzi said. “It’s an important one. You can talk about it a lot, but it’s nice to actually go out there and (play) it out. You see some different situations come up and different plays that can be called and you can learn a lot from putting it on tape.”
Quinn, meanwhile, threw a long touchdown pass to rookie Brandon Kinnie in the 7-on-7 drill but ended his turn at the two-minute drill by throwing an interception to Jalil Brown.
Coach Romeo Crennel last week indicated Stanzi lagged behind Quinn.
    Routt’s big day
He was the victim on the play of the day — Jonathan Baldwin’s diving, one-handed catch down the sideline on a deep pattern.
Otherwise, Stanford Routt looked more comfortable as he tries to settle in as a starting cornerback with the Chiefs.
Routt, who last season played for the Oakland Raiders, broke up passes on back-to-back plays in a seven-on-seven drill. First, he disrupted a pass intended for Steve Breaston; later, he got a hand on a throw intended for Josh Bellamy, knocking it to the ground.
    Lineup changes
The Chiefs shuffled players at a couple of positions in their starting defense. Starting safeties Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis are still rehabbing instead of practicing, and Tuesday the Chiefs had veteran Kyle McCarthy rather than undrafted rookie Terrance Parks at strong safety. At nose tackle, the Chiefs used Anthony Toribio instead of Amon Gordon. Rookie Dontari Poe continues to get plenty of work, but most of it comes in passing situations. They may eventually receive their turns in the starting lineup, but so far two returning players, safety Donald Washington and nose tackle Jerrell Powe, are buried on the depth chart.

Drafting a player in the top 15 should be an immediate starter. I don't like seeing contradictions from a coach who is historically truthful to his comments doing the opposite of what he said hours after drafting a guy to silence the critiques of picking Poe.

I didn't like this draft pick given the failures of other lineman before him, and while trying to give Romeo the benefit of the doubt, I don't like seeing them already adjusting from what they said they were going to do.
Not trying to be an a-hole, but I havent seen any articles saying he is playing anything but NT. Do you have any sources, because I would like to see what they are saying. Also, there are very few DL EVER (usu only 1-2 in each draft) that can start right out the gate. Eventually you are going to have to draft a NT and develop them.

Look a the original post. It talked about several different players; not just Stanzi. Poe and the NT position were highlighted as well. The tread hasn't really gone "off topic." The thread title just wasn't a really good indication of what the topic was about.

This space is reserved for something that has nothing whatsoever to do with MatthewsChiefs. (Whoever THAT is!)

After the Insight Bowl, they stuck microphones in Ricki's face, and he yells "America, love it or leave it!"
How was that for on/off topic? lol

As I said, the local media, "RADIO" said he moving around on the line in passing situations. Specifically the afternoon crew on 610.
