Why does God let people suffer?

When you speak of God, versus a god, that is referring to a proper name. The god of Christianity is God. Other gods have different proper names.

That, and which other religion has a god that lets people suffer? People usually refer to Christianity when they ask that.

Which I assumed we were talking about also.

My Dad is a pastor (explains a lot about me huh?) I have had to read every book in the Bible. God lets people suffer because he lets us make our own choices and will not make us do anything we don't want to do. We bring it upon ourselves. The only way is to accept Jesus but even then we will still suffer sometimes but still have to have faith. Faith is what God wants us to have and sometimes you have to "walk thru the valley of the shadow of death" before you get the inner peace.

Now let's all ask God for a Chiefs win! GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!

Good explination. In Genisis God put the Tree of Knowladge here so that we can make a choice to love Him. Thats what He wanted is for us to be able to choose so He could have that unconditional love for us and we have the same for Him.

We suffer cuz of the desicions we make. Adam chose to eat of the tree therefore sin and suffering entered the world. The sin in our life causes the suffering.

God is loving and wants that relationship with us, but He is just and must punish the sin that is in our life. Therefore we need to choose God and have Jesus take our place for the punishment of sin.

Ill pray for the Chiefs to win
