    March 20, 2013 02:30 PM | Reid Ferrin

The Kansas City Chiefs welcomed back their long snapper, signing Thomas Gafford, the team announced today.

Gafford has seen action in 73 contests, during his five NFL seasons with Kansas City (2008-12). Prior to joining the Chiefs, Gafford served stints with Chicago and Seattle, as well as two separate stops in Green Bay. He owns 15-career special teams tackles.

The Friendswood, Texas native originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Packers, including its-then Director of College Scouting John Dorsey in 2006.

Gafford was a four-year letterman at the University of Houston, where he played in 47 games as the Cougars long snapper.

He played wide receiver, quarterback, tight end and safety as a prep at Clear Brook High School in Friendswood, Texas.

I didn't know he was without a contract, but it's a good deal, because he's been reliable and dependable. The kind of guy that does his job so well that nobody notices.
