I think this is one of the most important things coming out of training camp and the change of coaches.
Our offense has been horribly one-dimensional. Especially last year. With a better QB and a multi-dimensional offense, opposing defenses should be kept back on their heels. They won't be able to key on any one thing and T-off on a certain player.
In addition, this plays directly to JC's strength which is open field running. As good as he is, JC is not a "Hey diddle diddle, right up the middle" kind of runner. Where he really excels is when he can get into the enemy's backfield and really put his speed and moves to work.
With our passing game sucking wind last year, teams had the luxury of keying on JC running the ball which made it tougher for him to break loose into the enemy backfield.
With JC, Bowe and others all as legitimate pass catching threats, opposing defenses won't be able to key on the running game. Those defenses will be forced to play a bit looser at the line of scrimmage which in turn will give JC more opportunities to break into the backfield when he does run the ball.
I expect that this season we will see JC get few rushing carries, more yards per carry and more yards overall.
If Bowe lives up to the money he's getting paid, I expect we will field an offense that leaves opposing defenses dazed and confused.
