    Default Alex vs trent

everyone has been comparing alex smith to matt cassel as "good vs bad" or "bad vs ugly" depending on your point of view [and rooting preference] so i just thought how does alex stack up against Trent Green whom most KC fans would agree did a pretty good job. so i compared alex' last 4 years w/sf and trents 5 years w/KC not including the last injury year. found some intersting stuff

    alex 62% compl
    trent 62% compl

    alex 12yds/compl
    trent 13yds/compl

alex 62 tds 5% of pass att
trent 111 tds 5% of pass att

alex 32 int 3% of pass att
trent 76 int 3% of pass att

the biggest diff was on # of attempts which then made the yds, tds, ints alot higher for trent and that was a product of the DV system

just thought it was an interesting comparrison

I personally can't really make a comparison between Green and Smith & that's due to the supporting casts and what I mean is the cast that Green had as opposed to what Alex Smith is going to have in KC.

Not only did Green have that terrific O-Line, they also had all-world blockers in Jason Dunn and Tony Richardson, as well as the best receiving TE in the game in Tony Gonzalez. Alex won't have quite that caliber of a supporting cast BUT, Alex Smith will have a good enough supporting cast to run the Offense very much the way that Rich Gannon did in his heyday -- just like we saw Friday night.

Plus, Alex Smith should have a much better Defense helping him out in 2013, than Green ever had.

How can you say you cant compare the two? I actually think if smith had the same supporting cast as green did that smith woukd have better numbers than green. Mean smiths numbers are close to greens with less supporting cast so thete for smith shoukd excel better in greens place. But its all theories.

That's my point -- they don't have the same supporting cast!! It's a whole different cast of characters. So the comparison, to me, isn't a good one -- at least not until Smith gets a supporting cast comparable to the one Green had & Andy Reid's Offense is different from the one that was ran by Vermeil, anyway.

Agreed, it's apples and oranges between two different Chiefs teams separated be nearly a decade. It's also a different league than it was back then.

Because of the crybabies that wanted a QB taken with the top draft pick in the 2013 draft.
