    Default Lilja cut by Donkeys

So it looks like Lilja, who didn't want to come out of retirement to play with us, but did for the Donkeys, was cut. Part of me was looking forward to watching Poe blow him up, but part of me was glad he got cut after declining to stay in KC.

I never wanted him to come back to KC. In fact, I thought he was done after his stint in Indy came to an end after the 2009 season. Pioli signed him as a stop-gap measure in 2010.

By the time Pioli signed Lilja, it was like putting a Band-Aid over a bullet hole as far as the O-line was concerned. But where we did get lucky was how well he played center when he filled in for Hudson, when Hudson got injured. As bad as 2012 was...believe it or not, that center situation could've been much, much worse. That's how I prefer to remember Lilja. His best years were in Indy.
