    Default Weekly Power Rankings

    Why was last week's thread deleted!?

    Here are the Power Rankings for our division for week 3:

    Team Source TW/LW(change) Comment
    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    Full Listings
    1/1(-) They have earned this spot after their impressive performance against the Giants. Von Miller has not been missed as much as we thought.
    Denver ESPN.com
    Full Listings
    2/3(+1) Denver's plus-40 point differential is tops in the league after convincing wins against the Ravens and Giants. The way the Broncos have played, hosting the Raiders Monday night doesn't seem scary.
    Broncos Brian Billick
    @FoxSpots.com
    Full Listings
    1/2(+1) Simply put ... Peyton Manning is going to have his best season since 2004, when he threw for 49 touchdowns. Maybe better.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    11/18(+7) Andy Reid takes an unbeaten team back to face his former team Thursday night in Philadelphia. He does so with a defense that has really impressed.
    Kansas_City ESPN.com 13/20(+7) Why are the Chiefs 2-0? Start with Kansas City's defense, which leads the league with 35.4 expected points added in the Chiefs' first two games.
    Chiefs Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    10/17(+7) In just two weeks, the Chiefs have already matched last year's win total and Alex Smith's four passing touchdowns are already half of what the Chiefs threw for all of last season.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    17/28(+11) They showed a lot by winning that game at Philadelphia on a short week. Philip Rivers was special.
    San_Diego ESPN.com 16/26(+10) Philip Rivers showed up in a big way Sunday. Rivers was 7-of-9 against extra rushers in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning TD to Eddie Royal.
    Chargers Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    16/23(+7) Mike McCoy, Ken Wisenhunt and Philip Rivers appear to have made for a good match, but Eddie Royal is going to come back down to Earth sometime soon.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    28/30(+2) We move them up based on their victory against the Jaguars, but this is about as high as they will go. Then again, they could be 2-0.
    Oakland ESPN.com 29/31(+2) It's early, but Terrelle Pryor's 46.6 Total QBR is 21st in the league and ranks higher than Super Bowl winners Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco and Ben Roethlisberger.
    Raiders Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    31/31(-) Big deal ... they beat the Jaguars.

    By now I'm sure this is old news to anyone in this forum, but I will post it here anyway for posterity. Thanks Indianapolis.

    Here are the Power Rankings for our division after Week 7:

    Team Source TW/LW(change) Comment
    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    Full Listings
    1/3(+2) At 7-0, they are the class of the league. Give Andy Reid credit for getting this team off to a hot start.
    Kansas_City ESPN.com
    Full Listings
    1/2(+1) The Chiefs defense has been devastating this season, leading the NFL in PPG allowed (11.6), sacks (35) and passes defended/intercepted (47).
    Chiefs Brian Billick
    @FoxSpots.com
    Full Listings
    1/2(+1) This defense hasn't given up more than 17 points yet this season and has a league-high 35 sacks on the year. Absolutely dominant.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    1/4(-3) They had some protection issues against the Colts that have to be fixed. And the defense had some troubles, too.
    Denver ESPN.com 3/1(-2) Fumbling may be the Broncos' biggest weakness. Denver lost two big ones against Indianapolis, and no team has fumbled more this season.
    Broncos Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    3/1(-2) Peyton Manning was sacked four times on Sunday night, the most he's been sacked in a game since 2007.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    15/22(+7) They head to their bye with a 4-3 record and Philip Rivers has been fantastic. Can they keep it going?
    San_Diego ESPN.com 12/15(+3) Believe it or not, Ryan Mathews is the only player this season to rush for 100 yards in consecutive games.
    Chargers Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    11/16(+5) Do you think Philip Rivers has already cleared space on his mantle for the Comeback Player of the Year trophy?

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    29/27(-2) They come off their bye with a home game against Pittsburgh. The rest of this season is about finding out if Terrelle Pryor is the long-term answer.
    Oakland ESPN.com 28/26(-2) After nine sacks against Kansas City, Terrelle Pryor should have spent the bye working on his release time. No QB has held onto the ball longer on average this season.
    Raiders Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    28/29(+1) The Raiders' next two opponents have a combined five wins -- and they get them both at home. It is time to show up.

    And our next opponent ...

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    26/24(-2) Brandon Weeden is not the answer. But the replacement will come in the draft.
    Cleveland ESPN.com 22/18(-4) The Browns don't have many offensive weapons, so why were Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron targeted only two times in the first three quarters of Sunday's loss to the Packers?
    Browns Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    25/18(-7) The NFL just looks too big and fast for Brandon Weeden.

    Here are the Power Rankings for our division after Week 8:

    Team Source TW/LW(change) Comment
    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    Full Listings
    1/1(-) Eight teams that opened the season 8-0 went on to win the Super Bowl. Can this be another? Doubt it.
    Kansas_City ESPN.com
    Full Listings
    1/1(-) Jamaal Charles had 120 of the Chiefs' 331 yards Sunday. Charles has accounted for 38.5 percent of the Chiefs' yards from scrimmage this season, highest of any running back.
    Chiefs Brian Billick
    @FoxSpots.com
    Full Listings
    1/2(-) There have been 20 teams to start the season 8-0 in the Super Bowl era and all 20 of them made the playoffs. Eight went on to win the Super Bowl.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    4/4(-) They bounced back from their first loss by blowing out the Redskins. The defense will be fine in the second half.
    Denver ESPN.com 2/3(+1) Peyton Manning was 1-of-8 for 16 yards with two interceptions on passes thrown at least 15 yards downfield Sunday. Four of Manning's six interceptions this year were on deep throws.
    Broncos Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    3/3(-) The Broncos have scored 343 points so far this season (the most ever for a team after eight weeks) but they looked shaky for the second week in a row.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    14/15(+1) At 4-3 coming off the bye, they have to be thinking playoffs. Philip Rivers has been really good. They have to go to the East coast again this week at Washington.
    San_Diego ESPN.com 11/12(+1) The only quarterback with more 400-yard games in a season than Philip Rivers' three is Dan Marino in 1984 (four). The Redskins defense looks capable of helping Rivers make history.
    Chargers Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    12/11(-1) The Chargers are putting up 402.9 yards per game this season…with Vincent Brown, Eddie Royal and a rookie as their starting wide receivers. Kudos to Philip Rivers, Mike McCoy, and Ken Whisenhunt.

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    24/29(+5) Give them props for playing well coming off their bye. The defense did a heck of a job against the Steelers.
    Oakland ESPN.com 22/28(+6) It wasn't exactly traditional quarterback play, but it was effective. The Raiders had a season-high 132 yards on zone-read rushes Sunday, including a franchise-record 93-yard touchdown by Terrelle Pryor.
    Raiders Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    24/28(+4) The Raiders started last year with a 3-4 record as well, but they only won once more and finished 4-12.

    And our next opponent ...

    Pete Prisco
    @CBSSports.com
    22/24(+2) That was a tough second game of a road trip at New Orleans. Now they get the Chiefs. Good luck.
    Buffalo ESPN.com 20/21(+1) There's no time to lick the wounds from a 35-17 loss in New Orleans. Buffalo returns home to face the Chiefs, the last of the league's undefeated teams.
    Bills Brian Billick
    @FoxSports.com
    18/16(-2) For a team that is playing with its third-string QB, the Bills are fighting like dogs and are going to be a tough out down the stretch.

    Chiefs, Seahawks share 1st place in AP poll
    Associated Press | October 29, 2013
    There's a tie this week atop the Associated Press power poll: Kansas City caught up to Seattle.

    The Chiefs and Seahawks each had 369 points in the latest AP Pro32 rankings, released Tuesday. Kansas City, the NFL's only undefeated team, was in second place last week. Both teams won again, but Seattle had to hang on in a 14-9 win Monday night at St. Louis.

    The Denver Broncos were a close third after rallying to romp past Washington, with 360 points from the 12-person panel. The Chiefs had six first-place votes, the Seahawks four and the Broncos two.

    The New Orleans Saints were fourth, and the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers were tied for the fifth spot.

    10th on this ranking - http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvo...8-dvoa-ratings

    Here is a collection of rankings - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...ab1JUeGc#gid=0 (everyone has them ranked 1 but not by yahoo, NFL, SBNation, and USA Today) also if its blocked read the comments http://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments...s_week_9_2013/

    what does this mean?

    That power rankings don't mean anything in the NFL and if it went by record, it would be called standings

    This quote sums it all up nicely:
    [The Chiefs beat] the Browns, who beat the Bengals, who beat the Packers, who beat the Ravens, who beat the Dolphins, who beat the Colts, who beat the Broncos.
    And who has beaten the Chiefs? That's right, nobody.

    That should put an end to any talk about a soft schedule!

    Good article! If there is anything I have learned in more than 40 years of watching football it's that the ....."Team A beat team B who beat team C so Team A will certainly beat team C" logic is the purest and most complete form of BS.

    Sunday is Buffalo and just like the other 8 Sundays we have to go out and beat them. Who we/they have played and who we/they have beaten/lost to don't mean squat. Sunday our Chiefs have to go out and beat the Bills who will almost certainly play one of their best games of the season....because like everybody else they want to be the team that knocks off the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL...THE CHIEFS!!!!

    8-0....looking for 9-0!!!!

    Yeah power rankings get me a little worked up but they're really just opinions. Everyone wants to crown the Donks champs. Last check they lost to the sb champs during the playoffs last year. It's a new season, and their isn't a new champ crowned til next year. And as of week 8 we are the line unbeaten!! They're so quick to give Peyton the sb but he's only won one I'm all his years. I'm not saying we will win the sb, but IMO the odds are stacked AGAINST the Donks!! Go Chiefs, continue to prove that this new regime equals new results and beat the Bills!! We've struggled against WBA we should have dominated and this should be no different. If we win by 1 or 100 were still winning. Ok enough of the drunken rant.... Go chiefs!!
    Doing my best to keep my sons memory alive!!!
