BRDempsey and Bike are correct. Most people that write malicious software don't bother with Apple and Android (or Linux) because they are lazy and want to infect as many machines as possible. Because Windows has something like 83% of the market, they can infect a lot of machines and the virus spreads very quickly. The "payoff" just isn't there for other OSs.
Did you try that Puffin Browser yet? let us know if it works for you. It works well on my cheap $40 android phone, but I don't have any iPhone/iPad devices to test it on.
