Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has heard himself referred to as a “game manager,” but he’s not quite sure why. “I have no idea what that means,” Smith said when asked on NFL Network what he thinks of the game manager label. This "game manager" label is a phrase coined by the fantasy football geeks who obviously never heard of the saying "stats are for losers".

A QB in professional football is paid to WIN -- not pad somebody's fantasy football stats.

“At this point in my career I’ve been playing long enough that I don’t really care what anybody’s saying,” Smith said. “I care about the guys in this locker room, the guys in this building and going out there and winning football games. They can call me whatever they want to call me as long as we’re winning, so fine with me.”

Well said, Alex. Get out there and pick apart those stinkin' Raiters!

    Dear Mr. Alex Smith,

Neither Clark Hunt, John Dorsey or us fans give a flying fuc* how the games get won. PLEASE JUST KEEP WINNING!!!!!

Every win is GOOD! Every loss is bad.

    We're counting on you Alex......

    Sincerely,

    CHIEFS FANS EVERYWHERE!!!!

EXACTLY! In stark contrast of the last five years to this one is the stat we are seeing in the W/L column and it was due, at least in part, to the lack of a "game manager" at the QB position. IMO.

I have been watching the NFL for decades. I have only heard the phrase "Game Manager" in the last several years. Was the great Len Dawson a game manager? Some can argue that he was, per today's description.
