This week has seen plenty of changes to the Pro Bowl roster because the Super Bowl takes precedence for players from the Broncos and Seahawks. Players from the teams that lost in the conference championship games are also bowing out, however. That group includes Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who won’t be making the trip to… Read more…

Same thing happen with Cassel, right?

Tom went out, Cassel got the nod then a lot of fans started backing cassel up with a "pro bowl" year

Do you REALLY think Smith is Cassel 2.0? I really don't. I think he much better than Cassel will ever hope to be. He came on, and shouldered the load when he had to. Not sure I saw that same ability with Cassel. But also he's only as goo as the players around him will allow him to be. I think had this group of wr not dropped so many passes he would have had a much better season. We def need another wr from somewhere to go along with defense!!
Doing my best to keep my sons memory alive!!!

    1) Yeah, in kinda sorta similar way, but it's kinda like biting into an apple and telling yourself it's an orange.

    2) Smith went in after a season with a team built by Andy Reid and John Dorsey. Cassel went in with team built by Scott Pioli and Todd Haley. There's a drop off.

    3) Are you suggesting that we NOT root for a Chiefs QB? If so, who?

Nah, just saying how 2010 and 2013 can be compared. season before was a rough season, then we go on and make playoffs but lose (AFC West champs in 2010 blow out in playoffs, wildcard 2013 28 point lead gone in playoffs)

Tom says no, chiefs QB gets the nod.

Just saying, its odd. Smith is fine, just don't want to hear "but he had a pro bowl year" if he starst to show signs up decline next season like fans did with cassel

Don't recall a 9-0 start in 2010. Our problems this year were moreso on the defensive side of the ball, a combination of injuries, secondary meltdowns and a fading pass rush. Offensively our problems were a combination of dropped passes, merry go round at TE, and inconsistent play at the O line. All three of which improved as the season went along. Not one of these factors are Alex Smith's fault, or a reason to bar him from playing in the Pro Bowl if he's asked.

Cassel showed signs of decline because Pioli thought the O-line didn't need any new help until it was too late. He showed even more decline when Charlie Weis got replaced with Brian Daboll. Again, there's a drop off.

Again, if you don't want to see Smith in the pro bowl, then who? Rivers? Dalton? Rothlisberger?

....uh i never said i didn't want to see him in

BUT if Rivers is actually not in because he wasn't picked, then I would say Rivers deserves it after the year he had
