Notes: The NFL has reduced the amount of time to make each pick in the first round from 15 minutes to 10.
This year, the prospective draftees are permitted to select their own "Walk up" music. That should be interesting!

The Houston Texans are on the clock.

PEOPLE. Ford will play OLB, like Hali has been doing, not a down DE like DeVito and Walker. Use some common sense.
I dont mind getting depth behind our OLB, but why do you take a 1st rounder to sit behind 2 pro bowlers...doesnt make sense when we have absolutely no WR and Lee was right there...you dont draft a successor (minus QB) in the first round. Depth is for later rounds and starters are for round 1 and 2...absolutely stupid. I havent been this mad at a pick since we Pioli drafted Tyson Jackson

Doesn't matter he is a DE who will rush the QB better than TJ ever did.

Im not to excited either but more excited that we didnt take wr lee. He will be worse then bowe. Id rather fo with a late rnd wr than lee. We need speed at wr.

Agree. I like the pick, IF FORD CAN STAY HEALTHY. There are serious questions about his back and therefore his durability.
I think the Chiefs countered the Raiders pick of Mack, with this pick of Ford. Ford will transition to OLB. Hali is getting old and has already leveled off and is/will decline sooner than later.
Also, KC's defense was easily handled without Hali/Houston both playing at the same time. Ford offers insurance.

He plays Tamba and Houston's position. Not TJ's position. He's a 3-4 OLB. Not a 3-4 DE. The only downside w/ Ford (potentially) is that he's a liability against the run. He needs to be a damn good pass rusher. Tyson Jackson was not tasked with rushing the passer. He filled gaps.

I dont understand why people are so low on Lee...he would have been a top 10 pick last year if he was able to enter the draft. He had no one to throw to him and when he had an average qb in Barkley he tore it up...guess we are fine with having Alex throw to a bunch of career back ups and wearing JC out way sooner than necessary because he is our only offensive threat.

Ford will play OLB and he can rush the passer. An off the edge pass-rusher was a need. Hali can't go on forever. Ford had a monster game in the Senior Bowl and though the week of practices. He fits the Chiefs Defense.

People need to get it through their heads that the Scott Pioli era is over. Dorsey/Reid place a premium on O-Lineman and Defensive Front 7 players with their top draft picks. They don't cater to hero-worshipers or fantasy footballers.

The Chiefs could be getting another Clay Matthews here and who would not want that?

Andy Reid said they had their medical staff check him out & he cleared. Otherwise, they wouldn't have taken him.
