Notes: The NFL has reduced the amount of time to make each pick in the first round from 15 minutes to 10.
This year, the prospective draftees are permitted to select their own "Walk up" music. That should be interesting!

The Houston Texans are on the clock.

This space is reserved for something that has nothing whatsoever to do with MatthewsChiefs. (Whoever THAT is!)

Thanks, TopekaRoy. I'll start with some pre-draft speculation that I've been reading & that's the top 5 WR's may be off the board by the time the Chiefs pick at #23. If that happens, then I suspect the Chiefs could be furiously trying to trade down.

It looks like there will be a lot of teams looking to trade back in this draft. That could make it harder for the Chiefs to find a willing partner or force them to settle for less in return.

What if nobody wanted to trade up or nobody wanted, say, picks 4 through 9? That could get weird!

Regardless of what happens with the top draft pick, the Chiefs have got to hit on those choices in rounds 3 through 6. This is what catapulted Seattle into SB contention -- hitting on those mid-to-late round choices, consistently.

It figures. There's already talk of the Falcons trying to trade out of the #6 spot and seemingly trying to avoid taking one of the top 3 Tackles and you know that Pioli is leading the charge. All the pundits have been saying the Falcons need to take one of the top 3 Tackles to bolster Matt Ryan's protection & for obvious reason. Ryan got sacked 44 times and hit somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 times. If the Falcons pass on one of those Tackles, I wouldn't blame Matt Ryan for sending Pioli a personal message saying "Thanks, prick". What a mindless idiot the Falcons are stuck with in Pioli.

By contrast, Andy Reid just stated that Eric Fisher is working like a maddog to get ready for the upcoming season and you can bet Alex Smith is happy about that. Although Fisher has lots of room for improvement, I'm still glad the Chiefs took him.

Clowney at #1 to Houston as projected. Talent is there, but he has to learn to bring it 100% every time. I thought Lewan handled him pretty well in the Bowl game over a year ago.

    Rams up next.

It looks like everyone is going to take the full 10 minutes hoping to trade back, but nobody is biting.

Scout.com has 4 OT in the top 10. That makes the Brandon Albert signing luck REALLY dumb!
