Does anyone know how the compensatory picks actually work? I have been trying to figure it out and I found this website that lists the players lost and what picks the teams get. Doesnt make sense to me on some of the players being counted and other not being counted. For example, the Packers got a 5th round comp for a guy named Erik Walden who started 2 games and had 20 tackles is all. Is it based on the contract they get with the new team or their stats because 22 tackles does not seem to be worth a 5th round comp pick imo.

Any info would be great. Thanks!

It's a pretty closely held secret. Nobody knows the formula, but supposedly it has a lot to do with the contracts signed with the new team.
