Default A few observations about the Monday night game.

    In no particular order:

1- Kudos to Alex Smith. Now please remove that "game manager" tag from his back.

2- This game was not as close as the score indicated.

3- My son's quote on Facebook: "If you are looking for the Patriots, they are behind the woodshed."

4- Is it me or is our makeshift O-line starting to gel?

5- If some fans where running the Chiefs FO Travice Kelce would be wearing someone else's uniform.

    6- Jamaal Charles... 'nuff said.

7- Poe vs Wolfork in that one TD play was a very satisfying sight to see.

8- Proof of global warming: Revis Island just went under water.

9a- Hussain Abdullah got penalized for his version of Tim Tebow kneel/pray. Ridiculous rule. Victor Cruz's TD Salsa dance is in a way more "unsportsmanlike" spirit than HA's gesture.

9b- Hussain Abdullah is the real deal.

10- Our overall safety play makes me dare think about the idea of Berry as a trade bait. I'm not quite there yet, but let's see...

11- Pay Justin Houston, but find a way to keep Hali. Tamba is a true face of this franchise and should be a lifetime Chief.

12- Great defensive plan by the much maligned Bob Sutton. Credit given where due.

13- The sideline look on Belichic and Brady's faces were priceless.

14a- Tom Brady quote about his NFL future from a few weeks ago: "When I suck, I'll retire."

14b- Famous quote by the legendary coach George Allen: "Future is now."

15- Tonight the Chiefs finally exorcized the last remaining traces of that damned curse called "The Patriot Way." Ding dong, the witch is dead. The wicked witch of the East is dead.

Next week will tell us alot But there is a LOT to be excited about right now.
I think we will continue to see good improvement. Looking at the first 4 games we have improved every week. This team is coming together nicely.

What makes me hopful that this is not just a one week fluke is that the Oline was better last week than the week before, and that one was better than the first week. 49ers' front 7 may very well prove a formidable challenge for them and it may look like they digressed after next week, but I think they ARE coming together, especially as Fisher progresses.

All I have to say is the Chiefs have a tough schedule this year. If we come out of it .500 then I'd say it's a very successful year and it proves we have a ton of optimism looking into the immediate future! Sooner or later these reporters are going to have to say we are a force to be reckoned with being we will have put together a good game or even beat some of the prestige this year.

We are already up to 14 in power ranking. SF is 13. Would be sweet if we could at least switch positions after Sunday.

An extra little bit of incentive can make a big difference. No doubt in my mind that Alex Smith will have some extra incentive against SF. And I suspect that most of the team will want to help Alex get a little payback....just the way they helped Andy Reid get some payback when we went to Philly last year. This will be a tough game, but I think we have a good chance of winning it.

Alex is more of a cerebral type. I don't think he is an emotional soul. I doubt he feels any grounds for a "revenge."

While I generally agree with that I don't think ANYONE could not feel some "sting" from how they treated him. And I do think he'd like to leave SF feeling he had "made a statement". But even if I am wrong on that, I think the rest of the team will want to make a statement for him. I sincerely doubt Andy Reid asked the team for any special effort before they went to Philly last year, but they did it anyway. And I suspect they will give it 110% to make sure Alex Smith leaves SF with a win next Sunday. That sort of thing is not the "be all and end all" of football, but football is a game of inches and a little bit of extra effort can make all the difference in a game.

And of course I can easily see Andy Reid playing up this angle to fire the team up.

Cerebral or not, I am inclined to agree. Hard to believe this isn't going to be a "special game" for Alex.

On #4, the big question is what do we do with Stephenson. His suspension is over. Do you plug him back in at RT, or make him earn his spot back? I haven't been impressed with Ryan Harris to be honest.

As much as I think the OL is improved, I still think they have a long way to go. I won't be surprised if Alex is using his legs a lot this week, as SF has a really tough front 7.
