The NFL Draft compensatory picks were announced on Monday evening from the owner's meetings in Phoenix, Ariz., and the Kansas City have been given four, according to an official NFL release. Those picks are 98th overall in the third round, 172nd and 173rd in the fifth round and 217th in the sixth round.

Compensatory picks are awarded to teams because they lost free agents they previous offseason. However, you lose a compensatory pick for every qualifying free agent you sign. The process is not a known science, as the NFL has never released the exact formula. Kansas City is receiving selections after losing Branden Albert, Geoff Schwartz, Dexter McCluster, Tyson Jackson, Jon Asamoah and other last season.

This is a pivotal draft for general manager John Dorsey. Throughout his first two years with the Chiefs, Dorsey did not have second-round picks because he dealt them away for Alex Smith. With a highly competitive roster and 10 picks at his disposal, Dorsey has a chance to really make some noise this time around.

I'd be happier if it was a fourth instead of two fifths, but it's great to have a lot of picks for a change.

We will have 4 picks inside the top 100. That could potentially be 4 big time contributors.

I wouldn't sleep on the 5th round picks though could possibly find some quality their too. I wonder who qualified as a 6th rounder??

This is good!!! A 3rd, 2 5ths and a 6th!!! So we gave either a conditional or a 5th (depending on what you read) for Grubbs and we got 2 5ths back and Grubbs in return. GOOD DEAL! I'm PLEASED.

When we first hired Dorsey we were all told that he was especially good at finding gold in the later rounds of the draft. This is his chance to shine. We've got a 1st, a 2cond, two 3rds, a 4th, two 5ths, two 6ths and a 7th.

GO DORSEY GO!!!! Make us PROUD!!!!
