IMHO those numbers seem high to me. I mean....they are awfully close to what the donkeys gave Manning. But I am no GM and I don't really understand the salary cap etc. I don't really much care what we pay him...not at all. I just don't want a contract with Houston to put us in "cap hell" for the next 5 years. So all I can say is "In Dorsey I must trust".

Agreed. I love Justin Houston's pass rushing ability. But not at $20mm/yr. I'd rather have a franchise QB for that type of money. We will franchise him again next year IMO. It's cheaper to franchise him two years in a row than pay that salary.

Maybe more like $7-10M a year. But $20M is high!

Jj watt got 16 million roughly per year. I think houston should be around 14-15m. Not saying watt is better he just has a longer resume

If he is alreadyslated to count 13 mil against cap this year why only give him 1 mil in the 1st year. Why not match what he is already slated this year so next years wlnt be so high on the cap?

right!!! unless they have their eyes on someone else and need the cap space.

Right? Move $1.5-$2 mil from the later years and make them guaranteed for this year. Spreads out the cap hit more and gives him more money upfront.

otherwise, I do agree that is a lot of money for a non-QB, but I'd have a hard time not justifying it, especially if he ends up breaking the single season sack record.
