Default It's a short week so Lets talk Donkeys

So we are on a short week this week playing against the team that the Chiefs over the years just haven't been able to beat here are my worries about this weeks game

Once again they are going to face a pretty darn good pash rush. The line did a solid job against the line of the Texans they are going to have to step up just as much if not more. And they are going to have to allow for our running game to get going. Something the Texans had very little trouble stopping for the most part.

As for when Denver has the ball. They are not the same team that they have been on that side of the ball the past few years. They are MUCH more of a running football team. So it starts with stopping the run. Manning isn't in his prime but is still able to beat you. The Texans had huge questions Denver not as many.

This is a game that the Chiefs really need to step up and WIN. Show that they are true contenders. Being at home on a short week IT'S TIME TO BEAT THE DONKEYS

Neither Baltimore or Denver scored an offensive touchdown today

True but think back to last year how bad we looked week 1.

Denver is still very capable of scoring points or at least the Chiefs have got to think that way

The problem in these last few games with the Donkeys, is the Chiefs have done as much or more to beat themselves, as the Donkeys did to beat them. The last time, the Chiefs just came out flat as a pancake. This time come out really ready to play.

Last time Fox surprised us with a strict running game. And yes we came out completely flat in that game, but our run defense took a huge hit without having DJ.

If the whole idea of the play-action offense is to protect Manning better I'm not sure it's working...Looking at the game recap it shows he was sacked four times.

You can't think about a division rivalry game like this game without considering the intangibles. Last year we lost to Oakland because they were fired up for a division rivalry game and we thought we could beat them in our sleep the way everybody else had.

If we want to win this game we will have to treat it like it's the most important game of the year. The thing we *may* have going for us is that the donkeys may have a bit of a letdown after winning a tough game against the Ravens.

The donkeys' defensive line is going to play us tough. Our O-line will need to really "bring it". They will need to run block better than they did against Houston 'cause you can bet that the donks will study film of how Houston held JC to just 54 yards rushing. Alex will need to connect on a few more long passes to Maclin.

All in all we need to really bring our A-game Thursday. If we do we can break a 6 game losing streak to the donks and get an early lead in the division.

Crazy to say it this early in the season, but if we are serious about wanting to win the division and make some noise in the playoffs then this is a game we have to win.

Game will be low scoring, don't think either team will break 20 points, both defenses look good

    I tend to agree.

Though I think most thought this weeks game was going to be about the same you never no.

Getting to 2-0 would be REAL nice for the Chiefs. After this they have a tough back to back road @packers and @bengals.

    keys of game:
    Defense
#1 Pressure the hell outta manning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    #2 Jam receivers at line
#3 Linebackers control your gaps for run coverage!!!
    Offense:
#1 need to get Charles going early
#2 take 2-3 deep shots a series (over 20 yds)
#3 Have nice mix of pass/run plays

These two go hand in hand. If Charles can break a few runs for 10 or 15 yds early, it will force The Donks to stuff the box and open up the passing game for Maclin and and Kelce. Likewise, if we complete a few deep passes early, it will force the Donks to drop back in coverage and open up the run game for Charles. If we can accomplish either of these then #3 (a nice mix of pass/run plays) should take care of itself ... as long as the coaches don't get too enamored with early success form one or the other.
