N.F.L. Tried to Influence Concussion Research, Congressional Study Finds

“Our investigation has shown that while the N.F.L. had been publicly proclaiming its role as funder and accelerator of important research, it was privately attempting to influence that research,” the study concluded. “The N.F.L. attempted to use its ‘unrestricted gift’ as leverage to steer funding away from one of its critics.”

All I have to say is the NFL is just another big business. They all try to pay as little as the can and bend the rules in their favor to make a bigger profit. No different than an oil company or fast food restaurant.

And as far as removing goodell only the owners can if they wanted to.

Folks....the NFL is and always has been the modern day equivalent of gladiators in the Roman Colosseum. The big difference being that the gladiators get paid in the NFL. The NFL is a HUGE business because it is violent and people like to watch violence. 40 years ago there was none of this worry about concussions. And the players didn't get paid crazy money. Concussions and other injuries were considered part of the risk of the job. Players knew that and accepted it. I got my first concussion in 1980 working for $7.25 per hour. Not quite NFL money.

The NFL should just own up to the risks and let college players decide if they are willing to take the risk. I mean hey....these are guys that have been to college. They should be able to make an educated decision on whether the money is worth the risk. It's called personal responsibility.

its the fact the nfl promised to pay the 16 million for the study, and when they didnt like the director, they found a way to foot the bill to the taxpayer.
