    Chiefs vs Broncos - Gamecenter

    Dec 09, 2007, 7:00:00 AM

Sunday, December 9, 2007 CHIEFS AT BRONCOS GLOG
    Saturday, 4:45 MT
Good evening Chiefs fans, Josh Looney here to take you through the Chiefs trip to Denver! We’re here in snowy Denver…finally. This road trip has already been a long one featuring many delays: A 45-minute “defrosting” on the KCI runway, a slippery 63-minute bus ride from Denver International Airport to our downtown hotel and a 10-minute bus jaunt that moved us just one city block have been a few of the highlights. Never the less, we’re here.

    Saturday, 6:23 MT
We just met with CBS talents Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker, two guys that are seemingly becoming close friends of ours as this is their third Chiefs game this season. The duo talked with TE Tony Gonzalez, DE Jared Allen, QB Brodie Croyle and head coach Herm Edwards.

Each week we learn something new in these meetings, but unfortunately I can’t tell you all the things that were discussed. So, here is something interesting that’s non-football related…Jared Allen grew up a huge Buffalo Bills fan idolizing players such as RB Thurman Thomas, WR Don Beebe and WR STEVE TASKER. Allen kidded Tasker about the gigantic helmet he used to wear and, interestingly, Tasker says he is still congratulated by a few random people each month for stripping the football from Cowboys (and Emporia State alum) DT Leon Lett during Lett’s high-stepping route to the end zone in Super Bowl XXVIII, even though it was actually Beebe that stripped Lett on the infamous play.
    Saturday, 8:45 PM MT
Quote of the trip thus far:

Man in Elevator: “Are you Dwayne Bowe?“

    Bowe: “Yeah.“

Man in Elevator: “Sweet dude…I’ve got you on my fantasy team.”
    Sunday, 9:48 AM MT
Good morning Chiefs Nation! It’s still snowing here in the Mile High, but kickoff looms regardless of the weather conditions. This should be a great one today as Denver media are tagging this match-up as a “must win” for the Broncos. I’ll catch up with you at Invesco Field.
    Sunday, 11:35 AM MT
All roads leading to Invesco Field have been plowed and the tarp has been lifted off of the playing surface. The skies are starting to clear and it doesn’t appear that last night’s snowstorm will have any effect on the game itself. QB Brodie Croyle is already outside going through his passing tree and we’ll have today’s inactives 1.5 hours before kick.

    THE MATCH-UP
Kansas City and Denver will square off for the second time this year when the two clubs meet at INVESCO Field on Sunday. The Chiefs will be attempting to snap an uncharacteristic five-game losing streak and are coming off a 24-10 loss vs. San Diego (12/2). Denver has lost two straight road games, including a 34-20 setback last week at Oakland (12/2). The Broncos claimed the most recent meeting between these two original American Football League foes by a 27-11 count at Arrowhead (11/11). The Chiefs will face the daunting task of snapping their current winless stretch at INVESCO Field, where the club has yet to secure a victory in six tries.
Chiefs DE Jared Allen has emerged as one of the NFL’s most electrifying performers this season and serves as the catalyst of a Kansas City defense that ranks sixth in the league, allowing just 16.8 offensive ppg. The Chiefs also rank ninth in total defense, permitting 313.2 ypg. Despite missing the season’s first two games, Allen leads the NFL with 11.5 sacks and is coming off the 10th multi-sack game of his career. The fourth-year pro is seeking to become the first KC player to win the NFL’s sack crown since DE Neil Smith had 15.0 QB takedowns in ‘93. Allen also made Kansas City’s biggest play of the day on offense last week vs. San Diego (12/2), registering an acrobatic, two-yard TD on his initial pro reception.
The Chiefs defense leads the NFL in Red Zone TD efficiency, allowing TDs on just 33.3% (9 TDs on 27 drives) of opponent Red Zone trips. Thanks to that stingy scoring defense, KC has been within striking distance during each game of its five-game losing streak. The Chiefs have actually been tied or ahead at halftime in each of those five games, but have been outscored by an 81-32 margin in the second half of those contests.
QB Brodie Croyle, who was sidelined with a back injury last week, will seek to change those fortunes along with several other members of Kansas City’s offensive cast. TE Tony Gonzalez is making a bid for his ninth straight Pro Bowl berth and is coming off a 10-catch, 140-yard performance vs. San Diego (12/2). WR Dwayne Bowe (54-784) needs just two catches and three yards to set KC rookie receiving records for both catches and yards, while fellow rookie RB Kolby Smith has averaged 116.5 rushing ypg in his first two NFL starts. Up next for the Chiefs is a home contest vs. Tennessee (12/16), while Denver has a Thursday night game at Houston (12/13).

Looks like Brodie is starting today.

Huh, Jared Allen grew up a huge Buffalo Bills fan. Do you still like him Canada?

I'm watching the Chiefs Pre Game show, and Herm is talking about his "luck" with QB's. With his luck you go into the game with more than 2 QB's.

Said something about Eddie Kennison being our 3rd stringer for the game or something?
