Post Webnews: What’s next for DeAndre Hopkins?

He wanted to be traded, but no one wanted to absorb his current contract. Now, he’s a free agent. So where will receiver DeAndre Hopkins land? He turns 31 on June 6, and he’s had some injuries in recent years. He also missed the first six games of the 2022 season due to a PED [more] Read more…

Does anyone want Hopkins on the Chiefs? Mahomes would definitely get the most out of his skills and our passing offense would be formidable with him. We would have to create some salary cap space to sign him which wouldn't be too easy to do.

On the other hand, how much does he have left in the tank? Past injuries, PED suspension and age are big red flags.

We went to 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls without him so do we really need him? Unless he is willing to take a small one year salary loaded with performance incentives (I don't think he is.) I wouldn't sign him.

This space is reserved for something that has nothing whatsoever to do with MatthewsChiefs. (Whoever THAT is!)

I would be interested if they can make it happen without letting to much go.

We don't really need him to be what he was at his peak. We need him to sort of cover what we lost in Juju. I think while the concerns you mentioned are legit that he would be worth the risk to try to cover that.

But I think he's earned it so I will say In Veach I trust. Whatever choice they make I am sure will be the right one

Not really. I mean unless we got him for basically minimum. We need caps space and money going to younger long term players. I'd prefer keeping Chris Jones and Snead vs signing an old broke receiver. Won't complain if we got him but it's a luxury want vs need
