Clinton, McCain emerge as comeback winners in New Hampshire primary

WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Clinton pulled off an unexpected narrow victory in New Hampshire on Tuesday, dramatically rescuing her bid for the White House in a tense battle with Barack Obama.
Clinton, who's fighting to become the first woman in the Oval Office, mounted a surprisingly strong showing after bracing for a second defeat following her devastating third-place showing in Iowa.

Republican John McCain also nabbed a major comeback victory, putting him solidly back in his party's nomination race.
While Obama, vying to make history as the first black U.S. president, scored big among independents and voters between 18 and 24, Clinton attracted lower-income voters and seniors and did best among voters citing the economy as their top concern.
But a big factor for Clinton was women voters, who had gone over to Obama in large numbers in Iowa. Nearly half in New Hampshire were once again supporting her, while Obama got only a third.

Well, that's a better reply than I expected. Look; after 8 years of a total idiot and tool, I think we could do a HELL of a lot worse than to have a President who is sharp, articulate, and blessed with the natural gifts of superior negotiation skills and being able to connect with the International Community.

At least you didn't come back at me with all of that "He's a socialist out to destroy our freedom"-crap.

I am anti Obama on several views but most notably on the Economy. It is the primary reason I don't like him.

both candidates are idiots in my view. I am sick and tired of always being forced to vote the lesser of two evils as well. I cannot wait for there to be a candidate I can actually get excited about and vote FOR.

This economic mess will not be fixed by one President. This mess is years in the making, and will be years if not decades in the fixing.
I'm not fool enough to believe that the instant Obama takes the Oath of Office it will all of a sudden be 1996 again, but I do believe( and know for a fact ) that the Republican Party and it's "Neo"-wing have failed this Country completely.
We'll see how it all washes; we have no choice.

That is what really stinks about the whole process.

ONe thing to consider though, this economy is all of Washington's doing. Both sides of the isle are to blame for it. I am still burning at the add-ons that got thrown on to the bailout bill and the majority voted for that turd. I am glad that non of my congressmen voted Yes for that at least.

I feel exactly what you're saying; the price of personal greed, combined with the excess of a system whose virtuous elements have been eclipsed by the less virtuous ones, is finally being forced to face its demons and pay up.
The problem is; you and I are the ones who will ultimately have to do the paying when we know damned good and well that burden does NOT belong on our shoulders.
I have never in my life witnessed a meltdown on the scale of what we have now. There are those who rightly argue the Great Depression was far worse, but you and I know how slowly and insidiously this type of financial disaster comes to call; it's incremental.
And you don't really see it or feel it until it has you by the balls. That's the way it moves in this in age.
Regulation, oversight, and government DO have a roll to play, and the Founders knew this.
The Great Hi-Jack of the US Government is when the Government becomes run by those who don't understand that their only reason for existence, and in fact their JOB, is to keep the wheels turning, play nice with others, and keep your personal morals PERSONAL.

I have to agree with Guru on this one. I'm not voting 'for' McCain, but rather against Obama. He can say whatever he wants while campaigning but Obama's historical positions and things he has said before this campaign speak loudly. It wasn't 6 months ago he was saying that he'd tax households making more than $90K...now it's $250K...why is that? Because he had an epiphany? I'd say the only epiphany he had is that his true platform won't get him elected, and he'll have to make some alterations to his true policies to get the position.

If Obama is elected it will go down as the day capitalism died. I don't like McCain...he's not much better. But currently capitalism and everything our country's economy has been based on for over 200 years is currently on life support. Neither candidate has a cure...Obama wants to pull the plug and McCain wants to leave it on life support.

Seems like we'll never see that day again. But anything's possible.
It's just discouraging the way politics keeps continuing to spiral downward. And how each election year keeps requiring even more and more $. You really have to be filthy rich to have a chance at winning the nomination for the Republican or Democrat ticket, and it keeps escalating. Hard for me to be optimistic that someone in the future who's super rich and an elitist will also be a decent guy, especially in a political climate that keeps getting more corrupt and thus the country is willing to accept more of that as "well, that's just politics".

I'll vote for McCain but it also will be more of a vote against Obama too. However when it comes to McCain's grasp of Iraq, the danger posed by terrorists, and the whack job leader of Iran, that is one area I will be voting for McCain.

But the whole thing seems a mute point anyway, because I really think McCain's chances of winning are either slim and none or none and none. (Yeah I guess I would say his odds are slightly better than the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl this year, heh. So let's say his odds are about as good as the 49ers winning the Super Bowl).

I guess tonight's debate is one last chance for McCain to do something to significantly get the polls to tilt in his favor. I've heard a few reports that he may finally start to hit Obama hard tonight. But I'll believe that when I see it.

I don't believe Obama Bin Laden will get elected, therefore he won't fix a damn thing.
