Clinton, McCain emerge as comeback winners in New Hampshire primary

WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Clinton pulled off an unexpected narrow victory in New Hampshire on Tuesday, dramatically rescuing her bid for the White House in a tense battle with Barack Obama.
Clinton, who's fighting to become the first woman in the Oval Office, mounted a surprisingly strong showing after bracing for a second defeat following her devastating third-place showing in Iowa.

Republican John McCain also nabbed a major comeback victory, putting him solidly back in his party's nomination race.
While Obama, vying to make history as the first black U.S. president, scored big among independents and voters between 18 and 24, Clinton attracted lower-income voters and seniors and did best among voters citing the economy as their top concern.
But a big factor for Clinton was women voters, who had gone over to Obama in large numbers in Iowa. Nearly half in New Hampshire were once again supporting her, while Obama got only a third.

Please don't confuse or associate the American Antifa movement with the European Antifa that started in the late 30s. They are the same in name only. From Wikipedia:
Antifa is a left to far-left, anarchist political movement of autonomous, self-described anti-fascist groups in the United States.

According to The Economist, the "word Antifa has its roots in Anti-Fascist Action, a name taken up by European political movements in the 1930s" and which was revived in the 1990s, particularly in Germany. Peter Beinart writes that "In the late ’80s, left-wing punk fans in the United States began following suit, though they initially called their groups Anti-Racist Action, on the theory that Americans would be more familiar with fighting racism than fascism." They are known for militant protest tactics, including property damage and, sometimes, physical violence, although a vast majority of their activities are nonviolent.

...commonly associated with a willingness to engage in a show of force. Antifa groups have most notably protested the 2016 election of Donald Trump. During the inauguration celebrations mask-wearing black bloc protesters "rage[d] across the area just outside" of the security perimeter, "smashing windows and burning cars."

... Antifa activists "combat white supremacism not by trying to change government policy but through direct action. They try to publicly identify white supremacists and get them fired from their jobs and evicted from their apartments," in addition to "disrupt(ing) white-supremacist rallies, including by force."

...Antifa activists participate in violent actions because "they believe that elites are controlling the government and the media.
    source: Wikipedia
At the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Antifa "certainly used clubs and dyed liquids against the white supremacists." Journalist Adele Stan interviewed an Antifa protester at the rally who said that the sticks carried by Antifa protesters are a justifiable countermeasure to the fact that "the right has a goon squad." Some Antifa participants at the Charlottesville rally chanted that counter-protesters should "punch a Nazi in the mouth."

This is what Trump was referring to when he condemned "the hatred and violence on both sides." The USA version of Antifa is not an honorable group although some of them may have honorable intentions. They are a violent hate filled radical liberal anarchist group whose goal is to use treats of force and intimidation to silence anyone who they disagree with. This is not acceptable in the USA.

Such as the Nazi flag, or the Nazi salute, all against the law here. Sure we have freedom of speech, but when it comes to hate, you cannot do it. Violence is not just in physical form which seems to me you have limited it to. You do not need to make it illegal to beat up the hate groups, but make it against the law to use hate period. Aggravated battery is hate too is it not? You just have to expand and grow. Stop being stuck in small box.
I don't "care for them" at all. I oppose everything they stand for. But there are some things I stand for that others oppose, and I don't want the government deciding what I can say and what I can't. Maybe someday they will decide that my pro-life position is hate speech toward women, or my support for lower taxes is hate speech toward the poor. The reason our founders made free speech the FIRST Amendment is because it is the one right that protects all our other rights. When you allow the government to silence speech that you don't like, they can silence speech they don't like. The first right fascist dictators take away is free speech. They take control of the press, the media, outlaw demonstrations and arrest those who oppose them, because when you control speech, you control everything.

That will not happen here. So we allow the KKK to chant "white power" just as we allow the liberal left to burn the flag and we allow Black Lives Matter to chant, "what do we want? Dead Cops! When do we want them? Now!" because if we silence the most offensive voices on the fringe of society then the more moderate voices become the ones on the fringe and we can silence those too. The PC movement occurring on our college campuses where you can't say anything that might make anyone uncomfortable with their "safe spaces" and "trigger word warnings" sets a dangerous precedent. How can you affect positive social change when you refuse to even hear what the opposition has to say? Ignorance is not bliss.

Welcome to the ChiefsCrowd forum, Arrogance. Are you a Chiefs fan? Your views are always welcome here but keep in mind that we are primarily a Kansas City Chiefs fan site. Please remember that this is the ONLY thread here where we allow the discussion of politics or religion. It is our "free speech zone," so to speak. PS. You might want to consider requesting a name change, unless you want to be known as "American Arrogance." Some may think you are personally attacking an entire country with that pseud. Just something to think about.

So confronting a violent group with violence is the answer? Both sides came armed to the teeth, looking for a fight and that is what both sides got. One side holds an ideology that is racist and hateful which has no place here and the other has players whose ideology is not much better; who condones violence against authority.

I think it's hilariously ironic that the ACLU is being accused of racism because they had the audacity, the unmitigated gall to post on their tweet account a small white child wearing an ACLU t-shirt. It couldn't have happened to a better organization.

They accused the ACLU of being racist because they judged them solely on the basis of the child's skin color. That's racist!

    This is even more ironic:

Charlottesville initially denied the permit for the Unite the Right rally unless they moved it to a much larger park away from the downtown area. The city argued that they could keep the rally group and the counter-protesters separate and better protect the peace at the other venue. The ACLU stepped in and defended the racists, saying their right to free speech was being infringed because the city did not also deny permits for the counter-protesters at the original site. The judged agreed. So the ACLU helped ensure that the rally would lead to violent clashes! Now faced with intense criticism, the ACLU says they will no longer defend the free speech rights of "hate groups." They are free to defend whoever they want, of course, but their new stance smacks of hypocrisy.

I also found it ironic that tens of thousands of counter-protesters showed up in Boston to oppose a Free Speech rally that, as far as I know, had nothing to do with racism or hate. Of course they had no idea why they were there and didn't care. They were still protesting the last rally and the election results. So they were opposing the right that allowed them to protest the right that allows them to protest! Or something like that.

Socialist Dems need not worry about Trump ever getting anything they don't like through congress because the Dems have an Ace the hole; his name is John McCain. I really don't know why he bothers staying in the Republican Party. He should just go ahead and be a Democrat; at least then he would be genuine. I appreciate his service to our Country, but he is not doing the country he fought to defend any favors. ...Only my opinion.
