Clinton, McCain emerge as comeback winners in New Hampshire primary



WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Clinton pulled off an unexpected narrow victory in New Hampshire on Tuesday, dramatically rescuing her bid for the White House in a tense battle with Barack Obama.
Clinton, who's fighting to become the first woman in the Oval Office, mounted a surprisingly strong showing after bracing for a second defeat following her devastating third-place showing in Iowa.

Republican John McCain also nabbed a major comeback victory, putting him solidly back in his party's nomination race.
While Obama, vying to make history as the first black U.S. president, scored big among independents and voters between 18 and 24, Clinton attracted lower-income voters and seniors and did best among voters citing the economy as their top concern.
But a big factor for Clinton was women voters, who had gone over to Obama in large numbers in Iowa. Nearly half in New Hampshire were once again supporting her, while Obama got only a third.

a lot of great points here. it will be a while until we come up with a solution for low priced energy for heating our homes and fueling our cars. It may always be oil. We need to drill our own oil. never going to happen though.

Guliani, Romey, and Thompson are the only worthy candidates in this race for president.

The media loves Huckabee and McCain...mainly because they are democrat liberals hiding under the name republican.

No matter what though, the president only has so much power. We need a complete overhaul of house and senate and elect conservative members for the next go around.

More than likely though, our country will one day completely fall to the liberals and we will evolve into a socialist country.

The funny part is the Caribou tend to congregate around or near the pipelines in other parts of Alaska, as the ambient warmth from the pipelines increases survival in the winters...so developing ANWAR would actually increase survival rates for Caribou, etc.

However fossil fuels do need to be replaced in the long-term as our main source of energy. The biggest problem isn't our dependence on these fuels for our vehicles as much as our power plants, factories, heating our homes, etc.

I know, and am not being sarcastic in anyway.

The chief (heh) argument about the pipeline was that the migratory patterns would be disrupted because they animals would view them as roads and be loath to cross their path.

I have some friends that work for Bechtel and a few other companies that have done much of the pipeline work out there, and they just laugh when they hear some of the "environmental" arguments regarding this issue.
