Clinton, McCain emerge as comeback winners in New Hampshire primary



WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Clinton pulled off an unexpected narrow victory in New Hampshire on Tuesday, dramatically rescuing her bid for the White House in a tense battle with Barack Obama.
Clinton, who's fighting to become the first woman in the Oval Office, mounted a surprisingly strong showing after bracing for a second defeat following her devastating third-place showing in Iowa.

Republican John McCain also nabbed a major comeback victory, putting him solidly back in his party's nomination race.
While Obama, vying to make history as the first black U.S. president, scored big among independents and voters between 18 and 24, Clinton attracted lower-income voters and seniors and did best among voters citing the economy as their top concern.
But a big factor for Clinton was women voters, who had gone over to Obama in large numbers in Iowa. Nearly half in New Hampshire were once again supporting her, while Obama got only a third.

I went through all of the candidates and Huckabee was just barely off the list of my closest matches. Romney isn't far behind, but I like Huckabee better than any of the 3 this site gave me...so I'll probably stay in his camp at least through the primaries.

The only candidate I absolutely can't get behind is Hillary. I'm not a big fan of Barrack, but I'll breathe a huge sigh of relief if he wins the primary. Even though I think he has a better chance of knocking off my chosen candidate, Hillary concerns me on many issues, primarily INTEGRITY.

The more interviews I watch with Obama, the more I like him.

I think we will learn a lot about him when he finally starts getting challenged with more difficult questions. It seems like everyone is afraid to go after him right now.

He is too young to have been completely corrupted, and he actually has a diverse background which might help him see different points of view.

Unfortunately the American public is not ready to vote for blah, blah, blah... I have said it many times before.

I realize I am discussing this topic with mostly Republicans (I have no affiliation myself, call me a waffler or whatever), so once again I hope John Edwards gets the Dem nod.

He has already said he will "Raise Taxes" to pay for the programs he wants to create. It may be honest, but it isn't a good way to win an election.
