Default Will D.T. make it this year?

17 Finalists for Hall of Fame election
    January 15, 2008

Two first-year eligible players, wide receiver Cris Carter and cornerback Darrell Green are among the 17 finalists who will be considered for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame when the Hall’s Board of Selectors meets in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, February 2, 2008.

Joining the two first-year eligible players, are 12 other modern-era players, one contributor and two players nominated earlier by the Hall of Fame’s Senior Committee.

The contributor finalist is former National Football League Commissioner Paul Tagliabue. The Senior Committee nominees, announced in August 2007, are Chicago Cardinals back Marshall Goldberg and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Emmitt Thomas. The other modern-era player finalists include defensive ends Fred Dean and Richard Dent; linebackers Randy Gradishar, Derrick Thomas and Andre Tippett; guards Russ Grimm, Bob Kuechenberg and Randall McDaniel; punter Ray Guy; wide receivers Art Monk and Andre Reed; and tackle Gary Zimmerman.

"DT was not an all around LB." says the idiots at the HOF.
THAT quarterback is NOT a Pro Bowl quarterback. Never was and never will be.

Anywhere from 13 to 15 years, but you know they don't look at anything but the stats they have when they retire or, in D.T.'s case, pass away.

    Derrick Thomas- 126.5 sacks, 1 int, 45 FF, 19 FR, 3 Safeties, 30 points

    Lawrence Taylor- 132.5 sacks, 9 int, 33 FF, 11 FR, 0 Safeties, 12 points

Except for sacks and int, D.T.'s stats are much better. However, he didn't play in New York or win a Super Bowl.

    R.I.P.

It pisses me off that stats are not looked at contextually, though.

Different decades, different schemes and N.Y. players still get the grade.

If Herm had started his career (playing, and coaching) here in KC he would be a nobody!

I am just saying that if you average out the stats with the games played, DT is the king. Is it really impressive that LT got 6 more sacks than DT or is it odd that it took him 23 more games to do it??

They always dog him for his pass coverage. The only stat he lacks in.

It is hard to intercept a pass when you are laying on top of a QB while the ball is still in his hands!
