I read it. Quote from Clark:

“For my family certainly it’s the most visible asset, but it’s also the most important asset from an emotional standpoint. I have a passion to compete. I like competing. And I like being successful. I don’t want to be associated with the organization if we’re not running it in a way that gives us a chance at really winning a Super Bowl.”

He also hinted that Peterson is on his way out the door and that he probably would have gotten rid of Carl already except that a new GM would want to hire his own coach and Clark still wants Herm because Herm is going to play the younger players (i.e. Brodie), giving the organization a good opportunity to evaluate/develop them.
Thanks for all the yards, TDs, and memories, Priest!

The information I've read across the Internet kinda leads me to believe Carl has been put on notice, but is still calling the personnel shots for the most part. Particularly the quote where Clark referenced Carl's past success as part of the rationale for keeping him around.

The issue I have with this article is that Clark really wants to keep Herm in the organization at all costs.

It does sound like Clark is growing a pair, unfortunately he is standing up to the fans rather then the GM and Head coach.

I like the idea of the team becoming younger, no doubt about it, but Herm isn't the only coach that is willing/able to do that, and Clark seems to think he is the future Super Bowl coach of the Chiefs.

I highly doubt we will be to an AFC Championship game with Herm in command EVER, let alone the Super Bowl.

Once again, I hope I eat as much crow as possible next year and we have a complete turn around and go 12-4 or even better.

    GO CHIEFS!!!!

I don't read all that deeply into the positive remarks about Herm. You have to show confidence in the guy that you have right now. You don't want your head coach to feel threatened, (while you need him to coach the season) and try to overdo it.

That's not to say that I believe Herms job is on the line. Just that I don't put much stock in Clarks endorsment of Herm.

Plus, you don't want to give the impression of a "lame duck" coach or GM.

Yeah. Clark could actually be behind Herm, but then he might not be. But, he didn't sound too supportive of C.P.

I am just glad to finally hear something from Clark the last few days.

With the dissatisfaction of the fans this year, you would have thought Clark would have spoken up instead of Carl at that press conference earlier in the year.

I do like the fact that Carl took the time to talk to each reporter one on one throughout the day.

Perhaps his father came to him in a dream and told him to do the right thing.

Or perhaps he realized there are a lot of people getting rid of their season tickets...

What was Clark's capacity with the team before Lamar died?
