Default Chiefs Target: LB Demorrio Williams (Atlanta)

A league source told Scout.com to expect free agent WLB Demorrio Williams (Atlanta Falcons) to visit the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Chicago Bears.

Kansas City does have veteran WLB Donnie Edwards but he turns 35 in April. Tampa Bay's starting WLB Derrick Brooks also turns 35 in April. And Chicago's starting WLB Lance Briggs is now an unrestricted free agent and is a long-shot to return.

Both Tampa Bay and Chicago run a Cover-2 defense which suits Williams' talent very well.

    I concur.

too true Canada, it was a pec injury and not a shoulder like K.B. and before that injury K.B. was d.r.o.y. in 2001. just a little "gun shy" is all. but you are correct-he is after all now a CHIEF!!!!!

(Updated 01/09/2008). uh, does not sound real promising......another K.Bell?
K.Bell was a whole lot more expensive. This guy is likely being brought in at a reasonable price, as depth. And possibly to compete for a starting job.

Besides, when we signed Bell, he was coming off a very good statistical season. Lots of hype.

Honestly, with the LB's we already have, I think we are bringing him in for depth. I'm looking for him to be a replacement for Fox or something along those lines. I think we'll see him on the field mostly during kick-offs.
Thanks for all the yards, TDs, and memories, Priest!

Absolutely; as long as we get him at a fire sale price.

Is $5.5 mil guaranteed, and $10.5 over 5 years cheap?

It's a clearence price for a starter, or a fair price for a quality backup.

    Is that just for LB?

I think that would go for most positions. It's kinda low-end for a starter, and kinda high-end for a backup. At least as far as free agents go.
