    Sort of like combat pay.

If you put a rookie in the starting lineup they are much more likely to suffer injury than in other sports so they are taking as big a gamble as the owner for paying them.
No one is putting a gun to their head to play the game. To give these guys a ton of money in the dark kind of defeats the purpose for a team with the high first picks. I agree the higher you go the more you should get, but 30 mil. for the 1st pick??? It's crazy

Any one can suffer an injury and end their career early. If this is that much of a concern to them they should get a desk job or play baseball.

If they don't want that risk, learn to kick the ball. Herm will select you, give you a signing bonus and then cut you so another team can give you another contract. Kickers have it made.

The 49ers own my heart, but the Chiefs will always hold a better than neutral spot for giving my favorite player a place to leave with grace...

What other sport has an injury occurrence rate, and severity of injury as high as the NFL?

I know concussion and facial injury is frequent in the NHL.

    Rugby is pretty nasty.

Good luck finding those stats buddy.
