    Default STARS Projected Draft

Whoo-Neelie!!!!! Well, I guess it is that time of year when just about everyone "feels the need" to grease their hair back and give their best shot at being a Mel-Krapper Want-a-be...Good college try there Randy! NOT!!

NFL | The Star's projected draft

It’s nearly impossible to know what the Oakland Raiders have in mind with the first pick of the April 28-29 NFL draft. And the Detroit Lions are just as hard to figure. But today, The Star’s NFL writer, Randy
Covitz, takes a shot at projecting the first round. This is a rough draft. Next Saturday, we’ll take another stab at it.
1 OAKLAND RAIDERS QB JaMarcus Russell, LSU
Hook this strong-armed youngster up with Randy Moss, Jerry Porter.
2 DETROIT LIONS WR Calvin Johnson, Georgia Tech
This makes four wideouts in the first round in the last five years.
3 CLEVELAND BROWNS QB Brady Quinn, Notre Dame
Browns decide Charlie Frye is not the answer.
4 TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS RB Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma
Coach Jon Gruden parks Cadillac Williams in the garage.
5 ARIZONA CARDINALS OT Joe Thomas, Wisconsin
Thomas steps in for Leonard Davis and protects Matt Leinart for years.
6 WASHINGTON DE Gaines Adams, Clemson
Washington would like to trade down and pick up some picks.
7 MINNESOTA VIKINGS S LaRon Landry, LSU
Hard-hitting safety will help the NFL’s second-worst pass defense.
8 ATLANTA FALCONS DT Amobi Okoye, Louisville
He’ll play for his college coach, Bobby Petrino.
9 MIAMI DOLPHINS OT Levi Brown, Penn State
Brown replaces Damion McIntosh and may protect Trent Green.
10 HOUSTON TEXANS DE Jamaal Anderson, Arkansas
Texans are still trying to mount a pass rush.
11 SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS DT Alan Branch, Michigan
49ers are fortunate Branch falls out of top 10.
12 BUFFALO BILLS LB Patrick Willis, Ole Miss
The best linebacker in the draft is a great value here.
13 ST. LOUIS RAMS DE Adam Carriker, Nebraska
Rams need a complement to Leonard Little.
14 CAROLINA PANTHERS S Reggie Nelson, Florida
Panthers need to get younger in the secondary.
15 PITTSBURGH STEELERS OLB Lawrence Timmons, Florida State
Timmons fits in 3-4 scheme as Joey Porter’s replacement.
16 GREEN BAY PACKERS RB Marshawn Lynch, California
Packers have to fill a glaring need.
17 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS DE Jarvis Moss, Florida
Jags could use another pass rusher with Reggie Hayward recovering.
18 CINCINNATI BENGALS CB Leon Hall, Michigan
Bengals ranked last in pass defense, and corners are old
19 TENNESSEE TITANS WR Robert Meacham, Tennessee
Titans choose local over Ohio State’s Ted Ginn Jr.
20 NEW YORK GIANTS WR Ted Ginn Jr., Ohio State
Giants jump at the chance to add great speed to receiving corps.
21 DENVER BRONCOS DE Anthony Spencer, Purdue
Broncos are badly in need of a pass rusher; that’s what Spencer does.
22 DALLAS COWBOYS WR Dwayne Bowe, LSU
Cowboys need to phase out T.O. and Terry Glenn.
23 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS CB Aaron Ross, Texas
Ross can return kicks as well as interceptions.
24 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS LB Jon Beason, Miami
Bill Belichick seems to collect these kinds of linebackers.
25 NEW YORK JETS CB Darrelle Revis, Pittsburgh
Jets need shutdown corner and didn’t expect Revis to be here.
26 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES S Brandon Meriweather, Miami
Meriweather steps in for Michael Lewis, now with 49ers.
27 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS CB Chris Houston, Arkansas
Another CB who tumbled to a team needing help at the position.
28 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS TE Greg Olsen, Miami
Olsen replaces Daniel Graham in key position in their offense.
29 BALTIMORE RAVENS OT Joe Staley, Central Michigan
He may be a year away from replacing Jonathan Ogden.
30 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS WR Anthony Gonzalez, Ohio State
Norv Turner finds replacement for Keenan McCardell.
31 CHICAGO BEARS LB Paul Posluszny, Penn State
What a great name for the Monsters of the Midway.
32 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS DT Justin Harrell, Tennessee
The Colts, remember, finished last in run defense.

CB Aaron Ross?! If this turns out to be the Chiefs first round pick, off goes the TV and heck, why not try bowling? If the Chiefs are looking to upgrade (which they should) at CB, how about a guy or two that might actually be better suited to play the Tampa 2? Here are just a few names to keep in mind:

    (1.) CB Daymeion Hughes

    (2.) CB DeAndre Jackson

    (3.) CB Michael Coe

    (4.) Usama Young

    (5.) Courtney Brown

Giants won't take a WR in the first so we should be able to get Ginn or Bowe.
    Go Chiefs!
