Could Feely be the Chiefs' answer as kicker?

The Chiefs' prayers for a place kicker may have been answered.
The Miami Dolphins today released veteran kicker Jay Feely, a year after he set the team's single-season record for field-goal percentage.
Feely, an eight-year veteran, made 21 of 23 field goals last season with a long of 53, and would appear to be an upgrade over the two kickers the Chiefs have in camp, rookie Connor Barth and Nick Novak, who has 16 games of NFL experience.
Feely, 32, missed Miami's pre-season opener last weekend against Tampa Bay because of a groin strain. Why not bring him to camp, get him healthy and let him compete with Barth or Novak?
The Dolphins, under new management with Bill Parcells, apparently have elected to go with rookie free agent Dan Carpenter, who made field goals of 41 and 49 yards in Miami's 17-6 pre-season loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Feely has made 80.8 percent of his attempts during his seven-year career, and has improved in each of the last three seasons.
In 2005, he made 35 of 42 attempts (83.3) with a long of 52; and in 2006, he was 23 of 27 (85.2) with a long of 47 for the New York Giants. Kicking in the winds of Giants Stadium would be good experience for kicking in Arrowhead.
