Nick Novak will be the Chiefs kicker when they open the regular season Sept. 7 at New England.
The Chiefs told informed Novak today and told rookie Connor Barth today that they would be placing him on waivers, ending the camp-long battle between the two players.
Both kickers made 86 percent of their field goals during training camp and were two of three in the preseason.
The Chiefs apparently decided to go with the more experienced Novak, who has kicked in 16 NFL games, making 65 percent of his field goals for Washington and Arizona.
