    Default Brodie and KC's future...

I hate it for Brodie. I read this forum occasionally over the past two years to get and idea of what Chiefs' fans think about Brodie. As a student at Alabama, I am a huge Croyle fan and seeing him limp of the field yet again made me just sick.

I'll say this, he has the worst luck of any football player I've ever seen. KC has a top offense for years led by the like of Willie Roaf, Will Shields, Gonzalez, Priest, etc. Brodie feel a few years after the curve and it didn't help that Herm was called in and it trying to change the organizational philosophy.

I'll say this, if KC is smart ya'll will take a "chance" on another Alabama product---OT Andre Smith. I don't think that any QB is going to have much success under center, whether its Matthew Stafford, Peyton Manning, or anyone---until another piece is added to the hapless OL. Draft Andre Smith (or maybe Michael Oher from Ole Miss (a bigger gamble though) and all of a sudden a dismal OL goes to a very good one with him and Waters and Albert at guards.

Also, this might be old news here but apparently Ingle Martin's wife posted on an Alabama board that Brodie was told "he'd probably never be able to play football again...and is devastated."

Either way, I don't see a future for him in KC. My hope is that he'll be able to rehab and will find a place as a back-up for a good team and possibly one day he'll get a chance to play if someone else goes down.

One things for certain, he has an elite arm and that alone got him where he is. He has the ability, just the worst luck I've literally ever seen.

*Note: for anyone of ya'll last say Brodie is a "wuss" or "isn't tough," that is classless garbage. I've seen the guy play through intense pain in Alabama's horrible, Shula-coaches 2003 season where we went through 3 QBs and Shula threw him under the bus in game vs. UGA when the starter went-down he put the injured--not just hurt back in the game only to get his shoulder crushed by Thomas Davis. Croyle has played through some serious pain. His inability to stay on the field in not because of a lack of toughness---that's for sure. He loves the game of football. He was the #1 QB in nation out of high school (despite tearing his ACL in the first quarter of the first game of the year). He torn the other one in 2004, effectively ending Alabama's season. The talent is there and it kills me that he catches so much flack from the media, Chiefs' fans, and even Alabama fans.

Trent Green was a withering willow limb at one time too, but he gave us something to cheer for for a while. Ya just have to protect a QB from taking all of those unforseen hits.

I don't buy that all of Herms QBs are just fragile twigs. I think that Herm refuses to offer any protection for his QBs, and they get hit alot. Then when all the pressure is on to 'stand and deliver', he gets to take those hits without even protecting himself.

Do that alot, and this is the result.
I agree with the assessment that we still have not seen the best of what Brodie can deliver, but I wonder if he is damaged goods now.

I remember Rick Ankiel in his rookie year as a pitcher and how he never got his head back on straight. I have a feeling that Brodie is in the same position now. After being pounded, he is always going to be looking out for that hit that is going to knock him out of the game.

Maybe I am wrong, I hope I am, but I seriously doubt that we will ever find out in KC.

It was sickening to see him go down again. If he can never play again...that sucks! I was pulling for this kid big time. I hope he can come back and be a back up-they owe him that!!

Herm has a career of experience with neglecting to protect QBs, and never seems to learn.
CP allowed him to do it here, and now we see the result.

It truly is a shame that Croyle never got a chance to play QB with an NFL offense.
Even with good offensive lines, qb's still get hit, sacked, and tackled. Croyle would had got knocked silly, no matter where he played. He has no size. Croyle is not an NFL qb, so why should he play with an NFL offense?

The number of times they get hit makes a big difference. How quickly after the snap they get hit makes a big difference. The amount of resistence that the defender has to slow his momentum makes a big difference. Having the QB start the game in decent health makes a difference.

We offer none of that most of the time.

I remember when Favre had no line to protect him and he would still stiff-arm giant d-linemen into the dirt on a roll out. You can't blame all of Brodie's shortcomings on the line/lack of running game (which does obviously deserve some). But it doesn't matter if Brodie has the arm of Montana or Marino. If that arm isn't in the game it doesn't do you any good. Plus, he is not aggressive enough at attacking the defense. I'm sorry, I said it last year and now I've no doubt that I was right. Brodie Croyle sucks. I feel bad for him that he's laid-up now, hurt at home-- but that's where he needs to be (minus being hurt).
Thanks for all the yards, TDs, and memories, Priest!

Favre never played with this offensive line, nor anything all that close to it.

I have zero doubt that Favres streak would have ended by now, had he come here before the season started.

I do blame the poor protection for every fault that Croyle, Huard, Thigpen, Pennington, Feidler, Bollinger, Testeverde, Kingsbury, Carter, and Tupa ever had under Herm.

The funniest thing is... he had some time with Parcells left-overs on the line, before he completely destroyed them.

Until I see a QB play with even 'sub-par' protection, I won't judge them at all. I haven't seen a KC QB play with more than crap protection since '06. (And that was definitely sub-par.)

I do feel bad about our pissanting over our QB's, mostly Brodie.
OUr main thing is that we don't have a o-line to keep our QB's healthy. Brodie is out for the season and Huard is too(?) because the chiefs play ball with an
o-line that a peewee football defense could break through. It is just time before Thiggie is hurt. We need a QB as healthy as Tony Gonzalez.
Remember that one season where our guys were so healthy. Its never been like that again, that is sad.

Least Brodie has alot going for him off the field. He does fantastic Charity work and has a Hot wife to boot. Time to go to practice making babies Brodie and enjoy your life . You are more blessed off the field then on and I wish you the best of luck if your NFL career is over.
