    Default Gary Gibbs Hired

NFL.com Blogs » Blog Archive Chiefs hire former Oklahoma coach Gibbs «

Kansas City kept its head coaching search, and now its subsequent assistant head coaching search, very quiet.

But the Chiefs will soon announce that they’ve hired former Saints defensive coordinator and University of Oklahoma coach Gary Gibbs to fill one of two vacant positions — either defensive coordinator or linebackers coach.

Helloooooooo Jonathan Vilma!!!! Now, we just need to hire Bill Davis from the Cards to fill whatever role Gibbs doesn't and we'll have the inside track for Dansby. lol

If this is true and he is hired as Def. Coord.

N.O. Saints Defensive Rank (by year)

    2006: 11th Overall
    2007: 26th Overall
    2008: 23rd Overall

Not exactly amazing progression. Not that the saints have a huge track record for stocking defense, they're strangely resemblant of the Vermiel Chiefs era with the primary focus on offense (Drew Brees was like what 11 yards of breaking Marino's 5500 yd single season record or something). But he has groomed some decent linebackers (Vilma, Dat Nyguen, Kevin Hardy, Dexter Coakley etc..) so if he's the LB coach he's got the track record of turning pretty out some pretty good LBs from nothing.
