Panthers, Gross making progress - ESPN
Renewed hope for a proven DC next season! What's in a title? Clancy Pendergast accepted a job on the Chiefs' coaching staff without a specific title. The Chiefs were vague with the titles of the assistant coaches they have hired is because there is a chance Romeo Crennel might become the Chiefs' defensive coordinator. Look at the title at the top of your browser. But I still don't think this has been announced, and Clayton wouldn't have put out that blog posting the same day if there was an announcement. Also both Pendergast and Gibbs Wikipedia articles still say they were hired with consideration for the DC job.

It is possible, at some point, the source said, that Crennel could join former New England colleague Scott Pioli as a defensive consultant.
